Since my first oil change I’ve been using Amsoil. I am a member but got on the bandwagon because a highly rated local garage uses it.
I have no complaints, truck runs flawless but I’d like to experiment I guess and thinking on running Pennzoil Ultra Platinum next.
Looking at the data, Amsoil is a ā€œthickerā€ 5W-30 than the PUP.
My ā€œparanoiaā€ is that my engine is used to the ā€œthickerā€ oil and the ā€œthinnerā€ PUP may make the engine noisier.
When fall arrives and the days get darker earlier I obsess over silly things. ? This classified as one of those?

Doesn't matter which oil you use...it all gets diluted by gas anyway...

I noticed the fuel smell when I first got it but during the summer months I smelled zero fuel. Now that it’s colder I smell it a bit more.
I wonder if the summer heat helps?

I got a better idea. Just run the Ford Motocraft Oil. It's what Ford Recommends and meets Ford's Specifications.

Scam oil on the other hand is simply overpriced oil that many individuals think is the best. If it was the best why are high performance racing teams running 24 hours of LeMans using different brand oil? Simple, they know what meets their specifications and the manufacturers can get a bunch of data from that for how the vehicle performs over time with heavy abuse that our vehicles will never see

Not only that...OEM oil is "designed" to mix with gas...the others are not...

Noticed almost all oil manufacturers have upped their api spec to either SN Plus or SP which should cover everything needed for my purposes.

All oil will mix with gas if you let it. Also not all Rangers had said issue as mine did not.

I’ve used Ultra Platinum in many Fords in my family, including my 23 Ranger. Never had any lubrication related uses. All run great and use no oil! All are changed between 3,000-5,000 miles with Motorcraft filters. Yes I know it’s overkill, but I’m a mechanic and see each day what lack of oil changes can do….and I hate when stuff goes wrong with my own vehicles!?

Ya I know...but that's become such a meme that it's synonymous with having a Ranger lol...I don't have that issue either thank God...when they ran the my Ranger down the line, they gave it the f'd up trans...the one after that, oil in gas...the next one, give that sucker the air duct mixer snafu...

My OCD won’t let me go past 3K, maybe 4 tops of I’m on a long road trip and that was with any previous car I owned.
Heck, my current oil change has only 650 miles on it and I’m already planning the next oil change.
