I am really disappointed ford dropped the Tremor trim for the new 6G rangers. My offroad/overlading bug is starting to bite hard and the more I think about my decision not to get a 4WD at least was a dumb mistake. The ZR2 looks really nice. Vroom offered me 31K for my truck! Combined this with the positive equity and funds from selling the track car, payment would be nearly the same. Am I crazy? 31K is what I paid before taxes from Granger a year and haft ago! 31K is 3 more than Carvana offered.

If you only look at buying cars in terms of “the payment” you can almost always make it make sense. Whether or not you want to start the financing process over is up to you.

Yea I am only a year and 4-5 months into the loan. So Not a huge deal... I just don't know if I can justify 50K.... But I know the trailboss and ZR71's are cheaper and are just as capable.

I’m sure tremor trim will be back, will just take a few years. Plus, the tremor trim is quite a bit of money for what you get, and you’ll be stuck with no choice for interior colors and materials. You can lift and level for much cheaper than tremor trim and upgrade wheels once they become available. Tremor offers no real advantages for overlanding that can’t be achieved much cheaper in the aftermarket.

I might wait a little bit on the GM, though because I think they are going to get real boring looking real fast.

That was some of the very best advice I ever got when I started buying my own vehicles. Focus on the total amount, as the salesman will always try to keep you focused on just the monthly payment.

I wouldn't recommend it. I understand you may be unhappy that the new Ranger does not have the "Compensator Package", but it was also designed with ARB to where you can customize it in many ways for Overland/Touring. The Canyon/Colorado was not designed with ARB for such and will take more work. Also the lights(headlights and fog) are controlled through the radio.........

I could also move to 5g ranger with 4x4 a used one.

oh I know my way around dealership. I am not desperate in anyway. The only way this makes sense if the numbers make sense otherwise I hold tight.

Moving "up?" Gotta disagree. Moving over? Ok. Moving to? Ok. "Up?" Nope.

Regardless, you do you. And do what makes you happy.... if the numbers work. And the numbers may work for you but not others. Focus on you.

You're talking about adding more debt to the tune of $19k, plus tax/title/reg because you've got cold feet about 4x2 vs 4x4? Plus probably a higher interest rate now. $20k is a lot of customization to make yours something more fun/capable. If you really have access to offroad terrain that mandates 4x4, it is what it is. Nothing wrong with getting what you want if you can swing it, but the logic/rationale doesn't jive with good economics.

If I had a 'year and a half' ago interest rate, there's no way I'd sign for something at today's rates.
