I replaced the plastic "rivets" with rivnuts and thumbscrews, which work really well - similar to what you show above - cost me about $20 and I still have several of the thumbscrews.

I was doing the 1st oil change on my wife's 23 ra ger and got my Phillips screw driver and needle nose pliers to start cussing those cheap plastic screw anchors that you must take out to move the rubber flap down to gain access to the oil filter. I looked in the fender well and there were 3 nice bolts that takes a 10mm to take off, instead of the crappy riviot things. 1 improvement that made the truck better instead of taking good features away like they have since 19. There's hope.
Another 10mm black hole...

Hey Rob, would you mind sharing the "rivnuts and Thumbscrews" you used? Are they the same as the press-in threaded inserts that are available? In addition, do you know the size of the hole opening in the frame that the OEM plastic "rivets" popped into? Thanks in advance! ~Bryan

As I recall I had to slightly drill out the holes - I don't know what the size of the holes is - I used an M4 rivnut with these thumbscrews:

These were the rivnuts but any M4 rivnut should do with those thumbscrews:

*Looks at tub full of various sizes of stainless-steel rivnuts sitting on the shelf in my garage.... smacks forehead*.

Why didn't I think about just using rivnuts already?? Duh.

I may not even wait for my next oil change to swap those out. I hate those stupid plastic things.

Wow another deleted item ?. Thanks Ford!

this is sarcasm
I deleted the Ecoboost badge on the tailgate myself because I didn't like the placement.

This looks like an actual improvement and I'd absolutely adopt it. Those plastic push pins aren't going to last but so long.

Great idea!!! What type and how strong of a magnet(s) do you use?
Here is what it looks like. I bought the magnets from amazon and I have one on the outside flap (hot glued) and one between the flap and the frame- so 6 total.

Hey David, did you JB Weld the nut-thingies in or did you use a nut-thingy install tool? ?
How did it turn out?
J-B Weld fixes anything BUT I'm not familiar with an installation tool?

One of mine worked loose (dealer did oil change, so I assume they did it).

If you have a link, that would be awesome! =)
