Driving lights: attach to high beams or not?

I have to wonder, if I turned the feature on, would my 6x 7" spot lights trigger the auto sensor to cut the hi beams back off when it sees that much light? lmao

they would just flicker on and off then. That would be infuriating.

How do you define off road only lights?

Is it lumens (which didn't have a universal rating system last I checked), light colour, mounting position, light/reflector size and shape, light pattern (spot, driving, flood, fog), or...?

Lumens, patern, and power consumption.

I've never seen a cop in my state pull someone over for using aux lights that are treated in the same manner as hi beams. Myself included. I have pulled dumbasses over for tooting through town with their shit on though.

Did you know in Georgia when turning right onto a road with two available lanes it is considered illegal to immediately move into the inside lane before first establishing the outside lane then using your turn signal to move to the inside lane?

Also, when turning left onto a road with a middle turning lane (aka "suicide lane") it is illegal to move into said lane first, then merge over. If making a left hand turn you are to proceed immediately to the lane of travel. The middle lane is for left turns only.

IE; there are a metric crap-ton of laws still on the book no one cares about but that one master level fishing traffic robocop every agency has. The rest of us roll our eyes.

I also don't get a kick out of turning on my ditch lights as they go past either... Especially to folks who have their brights on - or the bro trucks with the cheap Un focused Amazon special light bars turns on.

As a safety guy, I never do things that are unsafe, just to be extra clear...

I have the Auxbeam 7" 178w lights on the front of my truck. They're pretty good lights. I have them on a switch.

Here's my opinion, for what it's worth. I would not have them with the brights. I actually like the auto bright feature, as I drive on dark roads quite a bit. I think the Auxbeams would be too much, as there is enough traffic in the distance that I think it would be too bright, even with the auto system. I would never be in an offroad situation (Never say never, right?) where I have to hit the aux lights in such a hurry that I am worried about having to 'find' the switch. Night time driving that requires lights would be taken at a slower speed, so stopping and turning them on is okay with me. Having the lights on your brights would make the brights unusable around town. You know that d-bag who drives with his cool light bar on all the time? Don't be that guy...

Also headlights are to be on 30 minutes prior to sun set as well as 30 minutes prior to sunrise. To be fully compliant with this would require that you check an accurate weather forecasting sight for this information.... daily.

Also the school speed zone limits can be enforced 1 hour before school and also 1 hour after school. Yea, so basically the blinking yellow lights for school zones don't have to be active.

Trust me, if you get in a car, you will violate the letter of the law and violate it numerous times every day.

No one enforces this bullshit but speed trap towns, interstate interdiction units, and again - that one guy every agency has that could fish a kilo of cocaine because some guy went wide into the inside lane from a right hand turn.

If I could have a forward mounted rocket launcher for the guys who insists on making right turns from the left lane, and left turns from the right lane, I'd be a really happy camper.

These are standard traffic laws, not just in Georgia.

While I get your drift these two examples should be enforced and in my experience are enforced only in the case of an accident.
