this may sound dumb... any chance its not coming from your truck? like maybe something you drove over or something spilled on the road?

^^^Wow if it's still leaking, even a little, and they can't find it...time to go to another place..
SOUNDS LIKE THE GASKET FROM THE OLD OIL FILTER DECIDED NOT TO RELEASE SO NOW YOU HAVE TWO OIL FILTER GASKETS AND THAT'S WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM MAYBE PERHAPS??2021 Ranger, 17k miles. About a month ago I found an oil puddle on my garage floor the size of my hand. I looked under and saw the oil filter drain trough covered with oil. I assumed the best at first and it took it the dealerships Quick Lane that has done its two oil changes so far. They said everything was tight and wiped it all down and that they must have not cleaned it well enough after the last oil change. I said that was about 6k miles ago so I doubt the oil just sat there and decided it was time to relocate to my floor. A few days later there was a smaller amount of oil on my garage floor. This continued for several cycles. Weekdays I only drive about 5 miles a day.
Took it into the service department. They thought maybe the front cover is leaking but weren't quite sure, so they added UV dye and wiped it down. I drove another 300 miles and brought it back. They couldn't find anything! Told me to keep driving and if it happens again, they'll check again.
Any ideas?
Sounds more like they don't have a clue. Or they found it was a problem they caused and are trying to cover it up with a lame excuse. Ask them to show you the "mud". They will refuse to.They said part of the oil filter drain/collection system was clogged with mud and that was probably the reason...

And muddy oil is what you are finding on the ground? This is pathetic buck passing. They haven't a clue. You need to find a new mechanic, unfortunately. They said part of the oil filter drain/collection system was clogged with mud and that was probably the reason...which means they missed that the previous 2 times they checked.
Look into adding a ValvoMax or Fumoto drain plug. They are similar in concept. Attach the drain plug once then following oil changes just attach the hose to drain it.Just ordered an oil filter wrench as mine is due , no way im taking it in after this thread...
Both valves are different the way they work. Both are equally as good though.Look into adding a ValvoMax or Fumoto drain plug. They are similar in concept. Attach the drain plug once then following oil changes just attach the hose to drain it.
This happened to me with an older Ranger of mine. It’s dark, you’re on your back, on a concrete garage floor, everything is covered in dirty oil. It’s easy to miss because nothing would feel abnormal. As soon as I started the truck to check for leaks, oil was gushing out between the two rubber gaskets. I’ve always checked the old filter ever since.I’ve done many oil changes in my career and yes although rare- the gasket does on occasion stick to the housing. You will know immediately after start if you missed it - oil all over floor
I generally hand tighten- then extra grip tighten about 1/4 turn - and fill and leak check
