Just had to drop off my ranger for service because of what I thought was a small oil leak. When I got it into the shop it looks like it had been spraying oil all over the back of the engine compartment for a while. I was curious if this has happened to anyone else? It’s a 19 Ranger and I’m hoping I won’t be stuck in the rental to long.

I think this is the first most of us have heard of such. How many miles on the truck and has it had an oil change yet?

It just hit 22000, i bought it with 15000 and they told me to bring it back on at 22500, so this was actually supposed to be it’s first routine oil change with me.

Im wondering if the oil filter wasnt on good enough or if the filter has a pin hole in it?

Is the dipstick missing or not fully pushed into the tube?

I found a puddle of brown liquid on our garage floor. I sweep and clean it. Then, I put in a clean paper towel. Waiting over night, I found a new leak. A brown liquid spread. Not sure if it is transmission or engine oil leaking. So, I checked the oil level in the engine. It was fine. At regular level. Puzzled. Any advice?

Looks close to where the oil filter drain “gutter” would drip.

My last oil change was last July with the odometer at 5,897 and now it is 8,557 miles. Just wonder why it starts to leak last week.

No idea why it would leak all of a sudden. To get to the oil filter turn the tires all the way to the right(unless you want to remove the drivera front tire) and remove the cover in the wheel well. After that you will see the filter and the drain gutter along the frame rail.

Many thanks to Frenchy and Slowmachine: you both are correct. I went to same Ford dealership who did my oil change last July. They found oil leaking from the last oil change filter and clean the drain tray. Many thanks.

Good catch. If you were parked outside on a gravel driveway, you probably wouldn’t have known until it was much worse.

I'm having a similar issue. I came home and notice oil under the truck in the same area as pictured. My dipstick was also pushed up though. Trying to take it to a dealer. I really hope its just the drain pan needs cleaned like above
