For me specifically, the valve body (I had a valve sticking and my pressure was low) "overhaul" corrected an issue where it would occasionally hesitate when I first accelerated in D. It would do that occasionally, but regularly. That went away. I also had some super hard shifts from P to...
Update - It's now been a couple of months since I got my truck back from the CDF repair (which was done a few months after the valve body) and it's MUCH MUCH better. I've noticed just a couple of quirky shifts since....literally just a couple - around 45 mph....which I'm now ok attributing to...
You'll find posters on here who will claim both sides. From what I've read and gathered, I think I'll take my chances. I'll also discuss with the dealer before I get them to install it. Also, at this point, I already have multiple documented warranty issues BEFORE a tune, so I'd take my chances...
I want to get a tune, but I've been waiting to get the transmission sorted out before getting it. It sounds like ALL of the tunes improve the shifting and make the truck much smoother.
I had the valve body overhaul completed and the cdf replacement.....it's been much better since. All of the...
(FINAL?) UPDATE:
Just got my truck back. See pics.
Felt great driving home. Completely different. Smooth.
Buuuuut, I was in this spot once before (after the valve body overhaul). I'm optimistic, and it really does feel great, but obviously the next few weeks will be very telling. Maybe I'll...
I've got like 37K on the original Hankooks. They still have some life, but they are also noticeably worn. I'll try to get through this winter and summer....and will certainly replace by next winter in 15-20K more miles unless they amaze me at that time (I doubt it considering the noticeable wear...
UPDATE:
I had the valve body overhaul completed back in September. It's been better since, but still off.
I was due for an oil change, so when I scheduled that, I asked them to look at the transmission again. Dropped my truck off at the dealer 1/24. They said they would likely have it for a...
Keep an eye on it! Mine felt GREAT when I first got it back....then after a few days, maybe a week or two, it started acting quirky again. Document everything so you can be specific IF you need to take it back, but hopefully it stays smooth for you.
I'm definitely going to stay on top of it.....I actually just called to schedule an oil change and also have the dealer's transmission specialist/tech look at it again. They got me in on the 24th. Not too bad. Hopefully they find something.
I've noticed this with mine. I had the valve body overhaul completed and it felt great immediately afterwards...then after a few weeks, I felt some of the quirkiness coming back. It is not as problematic as it was before the overhaul, but like I said, it felt GREAT for a while and then slowly...
I don't think that the build date alone necessarily determines what gets replaced. It puts you in "Procedure Group A" in the TSB, but from there, it's a step by step process. My build date was pre-August 2022. After scanning for DTC's, they perform "Main control valve body step 1". If they...
I'm definitely not looking for the gas savings to pay/cover the cost.....not quite expecting or needing that, it's just that if I am going to take on a 2nd vehicle, I want something efficient. I don't want to spend money on a vehicle that costs more than the Ranger to maintain and operate.
I...
I'm checking them out now....did you have the 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder?
Just found a 2012 XLT Escape. Clean, 1 owner, 111K miles, 4 cyl 4wd for $7K
Also found a 2009 XLT. 1 owner, 82K miles, 6cyl, 4wd for $7K
I've seen some Si's in my price range. I saw a decent looking hatchback with like 120K miles for $7500. I just tried to find it to post the link, and I can't find it....it probably sold. But they're out there. However, I gotta think they're more to insure.
I should probably call my insurance...
Too many miles on that one for me.
I like the 4 runners, but for $8,500, I can find a Toyota or a Honda with half (or probably less than half) of that mileage. I also don't need 4wd, and I'd like something that can get at least 25ish mpg.
Here's a one owner loaded Avalon with 76k miles for...
