I forgot to mention, I took it to a ford dealer in long Beach ca, because it was closer. The guy there gave me the run around for 2 months till finally said they were so overwhelmed with transmission issues, it would be best to try the dealership I bought the Ranger from Ontario Ca. So I did and have the appointment Monday.

Anyway, here's the paperwork with codes.

FYI, that first link is for the 10R140, not the 10R80..... And that one in particular appears to have nothing to do with the transmission and just a sensor problem.
Fyi, the 10r80 and 10r140 share some electronic components, so even though a different transmission, the fix between them could be the same.

No, they said they were so overwhelmed with transmission issues that it would be better to take it to the original dealer. He said to give him a call if they can't either but that I would have to drop it off for possibly 2 months before they look at it.

Avoid Caruso Ford in Signal Hill Long Beach.

Used to have all my work at Ontario before moving. Purchased Outback at South Coast Subaru.

Wondering if they’ll change the valve body and do the reset. I’ve read through the tsb and performing only an adaptive reset is the easy way out. If that doesn’t fix it I’m guessing they need to perform the whole tsb. How did your transmission shift prior to this issue? I’ve got 5500 on mine and it shifts really bad in sport or tow mode. Normal mode is better but I get a ton of lugging around 1100 rpm since I’m in way to high a gear. I get really rough downshifts in normal mode after driving in tow or sport for a bit. Weirdest thing. Having mine looked at early March but I doubt they’ll say much is wrong if no codes are thrown.

Yeah they should. It's still under warranty plus extended warranty with wrench light and check engine light on.

Are you referring to mine? If so, no they did not. I keep thinking I should do the "cold" check to see what I find but I think I'm over thinking it. Other than the cold shift issue (which is a characteristic of the transmission), I really have no complaints with mine. It shifts beautifully. I did change my tune from a soft shift to a "regular shift" tune - thinking that might be better for the transmission - less slippage- But otherwise I have nothing to complain about.
educate me on this shift tune please? is it possible with the ford performance tune set up ? forscan ?

thats funny i got the same treatment despite being in a completely different state lol. The dealer that wanted to see me is happy for any customer. they are outside of the metroplex and are low on inventory and slow on sales.

Noone wants to check it for some odd reason. I had 2 mechanics argue with me that there is NO dip stick attached to the pan. One said NO THERE ISNT! Take it to the dealer! A service person at a Ford dealer argued with me that it is completely sealed with no way to check.

When I let the truck warm up I would park it on a steep slanted driveway and move it into park, reverse, neutral, drive. It worked at first but now not as much.
i attempted to check mine. id give it about 5.8 on the "this #$%^ is not worth it" scale.

I have the Livernois tune - the offer their tunes in both a "normal" and "soft shift" version. I had been running the soft shift but decided to switch to the normal version which is a firmer shift for sure. The transmission tune is part of the regular tune.
