These aren't Members, but these are Rangers over 100k miles. The 380k mile one looks like it has stories to tell at dinnertime LOL. This is just a CarGurus Nationwide search sorted by highest milage.

Wow $26K for that many miles?! Had no idea our Rangers hold so much value...

Yeah a less aggressive 87 tune would be perfect. I’ve got a few suspension upgrades to get done and then after that I’ll speak with you guys if I’m still not happy with the shifting. FYI I’m pretty inept when it comes to stuff like this so if I did get it expect to have to baby me through the install lol. Just a warning.

Thanks, and nice to hear from the Livernois folks. Will consider your tune once my warranty is up, although I would probably want a less aggressive tune for daily driving.

Sid - I hope the new transmission works out great, that is a nice truck and here’s to 200k more miles out of your new (hopefully trouble free) 10R80!
No problem guys, we are always happy to help! We can always make a less aggressive version than our current offerings if needed. The soft shift towing tune is currently our least aggressive option and is suitable for use with all types of driving and can be ran with any unleaded fuels 87 octane or higher. Shoran12 if you have any troubles with the process feel free to give us a call and we could help further by phone if you needed a hand. 313-561-5500.

The specs on the tires I bought were listed as 31.7". If anyone asks what size I say just under 32. Maybe people just round up to the next even inch
Been rounding up for years. That's why I never let my wife get a good look at a tape measure.

What's this tire stuff in a tranny thread.
Go start another tire thread somewhere else.
Tranny thread? ? What forum did I stumble into?!

Looks like this is normal operation, see 5 and 6 in this user’s post. Apparently he is a Ford tech too.

But overall he seems pretty happy with the truck.

Well, I hate to report this but Msfitoy has found it's Achilles Heal. The 10R80 has failed. With less than 1,000 miles before reaching her 100K milestone, the conditions has deteriorated to a very unreliable state that forced her to be parked until her service appointment. Which, to add insult to injury, was placed over a month ago and it's still 10 days away!!! I'm hoping there's a reasonable solution to her repair(s) which doesn't involve thousand dollar bills! Shift solenoids? Shift valve body replacement? Rebuild transmission? New transmission? Who knows. I'm just hoping to have her back to normal so we can cross that 100K mile together. She still looks brand new ☹

Here's my write up to hand over to the service department so they don't have to hear the disappointment in my voice:

2019 FORD RANGER

TRANSMISSION FAILURE REPORT:

VIN:XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Transmission operation normal up till 95,000 miles, Spring 2022. Transmission currently miss-shifts in all modes, Drive, D+tow mode, S-mode auto, and S-mode manual.

  • 1st incident: 95,000 mile. Driving away from home one day, transmission shifted from 1st to 2nd with 2 second delay and concluding with violent engagement.
  • 2nd incident: This behavior was mitigated by lifting throttle in between 1-2nd. 7 quarts of old transmission fluid was extracted, new filter installed and 7 new quarts was added. Behavior did not immediately improve. After few thousand miles, the shifting improved and began operating mostly normal with slight miss shifts from 3rd -4th.
  • 3rd incident: While accelerating to highway speeds, the transmission attempted to shift from 9th to 10th but began hunting between 7th and 10th causing an error code P0766 (wrench icon on), “shift solenoid “D” performance or stuck off”. I pulled off the highway and the transmission was stuck in 5th and there was evidence of transmission fluid expelled from unknown point. The fluid sprayed back and covered the drive shaft, frame, rear diff and muffler assembly. After shutting off and waiting a few minutes to restart, the transmission was operating as before and was driven home slowly. Limp mode did not come on.
  • 4th incident: Fluid was checked and was still within specification. After cleaning the fluid from under body, the leak has not occurred since but the shifting behavior continued to worsen. Shifts from 1st to 2nd had changed from a jolt to a shudder.
  • 5th incident: Shifts from 3rd to 4th developed a long delay and drops to 2nd before either re-engaging 4th with either a complete miss (lift throttle to re-engage), slip (rev goes up but engages) or a violent jolt/slam engagement. This causes the wrench icon to come on with instructions to “see manual”. The transmission began to stay in 4th and not shift up or down. After placing in park, noise can be heard from solenoids shifting into 1st. It also will become stuck in 7th even coming to a stop.

The transmission's current state has deteriorated to a point where it is not possible to drive the vehicle for more than a few miles before becoming stuck in high gear. Shutting off the vehicle can sometimes correct the gear position but not always.

so i am a little worried now... a couple weeks ago i noticed that when coming to a stop i can feel some of the down shifts and they seem a bit bouncy. same gears with the odd feeling each time. i thought oh great center support bearing. even ordered one today thinking its just the slop in a less than perfect bearing and im feeling the driveshaft moving around more than it should. ive heard that was thing. mines made noise in the past so i figured it was time to replace it...
tonight i decided to go for a ride. wanted to try tow mode. truck had about one and half second delay going from first to second. and second came with a profound thud. like did i just hit something thud. :crying: i know if the trans and fluid is cold a bit of a rough shift is normal. but this first to second legit felt like i hit a big pot hole. not the normal cold shift.
after driving a bit it smoothed out on shifting up but still has the jouncy down shifts. they almost feel like a warped set of brake rotors. i just passed 26k miles. am i next to need a transmission already ?

Wow...sounds just like my first bad experience...1-2 second of nothing between 1-2nd...also seemed like the revs kept going like I had put it neutral then popped the clutch...WHAM! Scare the hell out of me...since you're still under warranty, I'd go take it in and have it looked at...I hoped my problems would go away because I was already way out of warranty...the transmission will not fix it self...

Good luck Mark...

Mine has started becoming so inconsistent shifting from 1 to anything else that it feels like someone who can’t drive stick. Lurches forward, rear end bangs, and it either flares before or just delays the whole shift and then slams hard. 10% throttle at most and just crawling speeds. I think I should have this thing looked at or at least re-flashed…

I know the symptoms well...even with my new tranny, I still cringe anticipating the shift/bang that no longer exists...God, this must be what PTSD is like...?

Yeah let us know what you find out. Who knows, maybe be something rather simple like fluid level or programming error. For the most part I imagine these transmissions are mechanically sound but there are a number of other things it could be. Hope you get it worked out.

after reading the whole tread it's amazing how overblown this problem is or should i say with this many in service not really a real problem

the problem that is not really a real problem is the fuel in oil hype. some place around here is a long thread about it.
