Interesting point. One would think they would extend or add a warranty for any replaced item. Agreed on way to high of a gear for these low speeds. All in the name of MPG .

I just got the Ford Performance Tune....I felt the EXACT same way as you.

My truck has been repaired under warranty 4 times for 3 different issues (I'm just under 60k miles but had my first issue the day after I bought it) - which Ford extended for me due to my first hassle with the warranty repair.

If you're gonna keep the truck, and you're under warranty, get the Ford Tune. There are still a few awkward shifts...but it's SIGNIFICANTLY smoother and extra hp feels amazing.
Ok, I bit the bullet and bought Ford Performance Tuner, it will arrive today. Question, there has been some debate whether or not to use the K@N filter included due to its poor filtration record, this is only what I have heard. From what I have read most say just stick with the filter paper..Thoughts?

My concern was the oil, when I cleaned and reoiled my K&N, just a light drop on the bench and several drops of oil came off. I thought that couldn't be good for the turbo. So I quit using it and got a dry cleanable performance filter. I really like the idea of cleaning rather that replacing.

I stuck with the stock paper filter and sold my K&N on marketplace?. 6,000 miles on the Ford Performance tune with no issues. Pulls hard and doesn’t skip a beat. I always use 93 octane as well.

The service write-ups early in this thread look like mine. My dealer was very thorough, and I was fortunate that the valve body replacement fixed mine. I have driven about 2k since the repair and all is good. I have 79k on my truck now. Woohoo! I am actually very pleased with my Ranger. Comfortable, decent mpg's, and so far my 4x4 has not left me in any situation I could not get out of.

Well, short lived. Less than 20k tranny is doing the same
Shit again, bucking, surging, loud bangs at different shift intervals. Trucks back in the shop, once fixed I’m selling her. I’m done!

When was your trans last repairs? I am curious if it got the updated parts. I just hope if I have a trans issue it is before the warranty is up. Already got an engine at 50k miles (stock and 5k oil changes, bad #4 rod bearing). I really want to keep this truck and enjoy no payments, especially since it seems many brands are having issues now a days.
