Well I've been EXTRA hard on mine and at 93K she still sings. I'm thinking if I want to have a long life with my Ranger tranny....(+150K) I at least might want to change the valve body and the pan. If I can get an extra gallon of fluid in there to keep her cool and freshen up the meat of the operation maybe she'll run good for a long time. I really don't have any plans to swap out my Ranger for several more years. At that rate I'll be close to 200K. I'm definitely not panicking....or worried about it.
Mmmm I think I was confusing sid for you when I was making my comments about him being so hard on his truck lol.

So was mine at 93K...you have 2K left before your tranny explodes...
lol.....here's to hoping that having my tranny tuned with the Livernois programming tweaks for the last 60K will give me a little more time....

LOL........He's your father Chris! Haaaaa!
Damn.
I reckon that means I gotta go out and kiss my hot sister. EEEW!
Except I don't HAVE a sister, much less a hot one.
So I guess he's gonna be someone else's daddy.
WHEW! Dodged a bullet there, didn't I?

People need to smoke a big fat joint and relax.

I've never been on a forum with so much concentrated paranoia. Really. Relatively sure the levels of paranoia around here are infinitely higher than what would be found on like... a forum dedicated to Alex Jones or something ?
Is this fat enough ? Great album BTW. Is Alex Jones related to Jim Jones ?

We did have an issue with the early 10R80 transmissions here fitted to the first Raptor model released here, there was a massive TSB and many people had their torque convertors and trans oil pumps replaced - this was a supplier issue where the parts were faulty from the supplier, so technically not Ford, some failed literally from driving off the dealer lot, others took a few months.

They also needed a couple of software updates to properly mate this tranny to the bi turbo diesel, early examples tended to clunk and bang shifts, and skip gears. The same early Raptors were plagued with diesel injector issues, on the new 2.0 Bi turbo diesel, once again a supplier quality issue, and caused a massive recall and even a temporary halt in production in Thailand whilst the suspect parts were purged from the supply chain. Even cars on the dealer lots were replaced. Unfortunately it did Ford a lot of customer damage here for a while. Sad, because the previous Raptor was a brilliant truck but one did feel it was rushed into production a bit early.

True, but Sid is running 285/70/17 and the 70 = 70% aspect ratio or sidewall height, which will vary according to width.

The 285/70/17 tires are almost exactly 2" taller than the factory 265/65/17 stockers.

The most common sizes on here are 265/70/17 (32") and 285/70/17 (33") tires and yes, the Ranger has no need of a gearing change to turn them.

I can't see 33" tires causing a problem for this transmission when many F150s have that size or larger stock.
265/70/17s are 31.6s not 32s a 32 is a 275/70/17 at 32.2 then 285/70/17 is a 32.7
each of these will change slightly depending on tire manufacturing but this is the standard that 265=31 275=32 285=33

Well, I hate to report this but Msfitoy has found it's Achilles Heal. The 10R80 has failed. With less than 1,000 miles before reaching her 100K milestone, the conditions has deteriorated to a very unreliable state that forced her to be parked until her service appointment. Which, to add insult to injury, was placed over a month ago and it's still 10 days away!!! I'm hoping there's a reasonable solution to her repair(s) which doesn't involve thousand dollar bills! Shift solenoids? Shift valve body replacement? Rebuild transmission? New transmission? Who knows. I'm just hoping to have her back to normal so we can cross that 100K mile together. She still looks brand new ☹

Here's my write up to hand over to the service department so they don't have to hear the disappointment in my voice:

2019 FORD RANGER

TRANSMISSION FAILURE REPORT:

VIN:XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Transmission operation normal up till 95,000 miles, Spring 2022. Transmission currently miss-shifts in all modes, Drive, D+tow mode, S-mode auto, and S-mode manual.

  • 1st incident: 95,000 mile. Driving away from home one day, transmission shifted from 1st to 2nd with 2 second delay and concluding with violent engagement.
  • 2nd incident: This behavior was mitigated by lifting throttle in between 1-2nd. 7 quarts of old transmission fluid was extracted, new filter installed and 7 new quarts was added. Behavior did not immediately improve. After few thousand miles, the shifting improved and began operating mostly normal with slight miss shifts from 3rd -4th.
  • 3rd incident: While accelerating to highway speeds, the transmission attempted to shift from 9th to 10th but began hunting between 7th and 10th causing an error code P0766 (wrench icon on), “shift solenoid “D” performance or stuck off”. I pulled off the highway and the transmission was stuck in 5th and there was evidence of transmission fluid expelled from unknown point. The fluid sprayed back and covered the drive shaft, frame, rear diff and muffler assembly. After shutting off and waiting a few minutes to restart, the transmission was operating as before and was driven home slowly. Limp mode did not come on.
  • 4th incident: Fluid was checked and was still within specification. After cleaning the fluid from under body, the leak has not occurred since but the shifting behavior continued to worsen. Shifts from 1st to 2nd had changed from a jolt to a shudder.
  • 5th incident: Shifts from 3rd to 4th developed a long delay and drops to 2nd before either re-engaging 4th with either a complete miss (lift throttle to re-engage), slip (rev goes up but engages) or a violent jolt/slam engagement. This causes the wrench icon to come on with instructions to “see manual”. The transmission began to stay in 4th and not shift up or down. After placing in park, noise can be heard from solenoids shifting into 1st. It also will become stuck in 7th even coming to a stop.

The transmission's current state has deteriorated to a point where it is not possible to drive the vehicle for more than a few miles before becoming stuck in high gear. Shutting off the vehicle can sometimes correct the gear position but not always.

Its already known that 265/70-17's are reffered to as 32's. He'll the 31x10.50x15's I have on my Pathfinder are technically 30.5 in diameter. Guess what. Still classified as a 31. If you remember back in your early grade years of learning math(if you were any good at it) the general rule way 5 - 9 was rounded up. That is why they are classified as such.

The specs on the tires I bought were listed as 31.7". If anyone asks what size I say just under 32. Maybe people just round up to the next even inch
