"Ford Boss Me" on U tube is starting a series on oil(personally I would rather run barefoot thru a minefield, than bring up oil), and he is sending out new oils for lab testing and comparing the additive pkg. So far, Castrol Edge is his favorite, but he just picked up Wall-Mart, O'Reilly, and Advancd and Fram, so stay tuned.
If you ever want to do something "exciting", go to The Studebaker Drivers Club Forum, and bring up the subject of oil. Then stand back and watch the fur fly!
I don't have a problem with oil conversion as long as it includes data, sampling, and usage. At PRI 2019, I attended an oil class and the biggest thing they (oil manufacturers) hit home on, was what I've always said... You choose oil based on usage. If you're going to use an engine in an abusive, high load manner, you need an oil that can handle the task. If you're in another category, another oil may be a sensible choice.

Project Farm has some really great comparison videos and here's a really good one with high mileage oils.

Big fan of Project Farm. "Will running moonshine through your engine make it explode? Let's find out!"

I've never used a high mileage oil... My Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD is at 235k and I'm still using Rotella T6 every 8-10k miles. I don't even check the oil. It takes 2.5 gallons and I pour that in with a filter change, run it until time to change, repeat.

I don't consider 75k miles to be "high mileage" unless the owner was a complete moron.

I've had my truck for 3 months and just hit 900 miles. I recently moved to a smaller town, so that may have a lot to do with it. :)
So anyone who says 75k is "high" is a moron cause you got 235k? Checks out..
No, those are mutually exclusive. If the owner is too incompetent to properly take care of a vehicle, it can be highly worn at much lower mileage.

But... Does this offend you? :D
No, just questioning the strong adjective for something so dumb.
I think most people followed along and didn't correlate the two unrelated points, to be an 'IFTT'.
Well no idea what you’re talking about, but no one who brags about their fiat diesel should be calling anyone else a moron ?.
Not a "brag", but also not a Fiat engine. So where does that put us now?
Mercedes fiat, what’s the difference lol.
Enjoy your Chevrolet Ranger

You guys rock!

First round is on me if I ever get the chance.

I'll say this and then I'll shut up about oil.

During one repair of my money sucking POS, I mean Nissan Frontier, they had to pull the front off of the engine. Just so happened that the day the mechanic pulled it apart I stopped by the dealership to get something out of the truck. Service mgr (who knew me well at that point. Thx nissan) told me to just go on back. When I walked into the stop 4-5 mechanics were looking at the front of my POS. ? When I said hello the guy working on it said something about perfect timing. Then said they all wanted to know what oil I used. Answer was Castrol GTX full syn. Every 5K miles. Wix filters only. Change it myself in my driveway.

Reason they were looking at my truck and asking about oil? Truck had over 140K on it at that point and they were stunned at how clean the engine was. Mechanic working on my truck (he knew me too at that point. F***ing nissan) said he was switching his vehicles to Castrol at the very next oil change.

When I looked at the engine with them gotta say, it was crazy clean. Needless to say I've continued with Castrol and Wix in all my vehicles.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Never switched that truck to the Castrol high mileage. Just stuck with the regular. Truck had 186K miles when I finally dumped it. No oil related issues. Every other issue :curse:, but nothing oil related.

Count me in. I'm redneck qualified. Could most likely provide references. My wife for one?... but I digress.

2020 Ranger which was ordered was delivered to me on Dec. 14, 2019. I am a widower, retired, live by myself, and own three vehicles so mileage tends to be low. :) The mileage would be even lower but I always drive the Ranger for 5 to 10 miles even if I am going to the grocery store which is half a mile away. I put the most miles on the Rubicon in the Sierras and the Coastal Range.

Ok this makes no sense. Why would one purposely choose an oil that was "lesser" than another? Oil is cheap, just put the best in that crankcase you can. Does anyone ever say "Well I'm gonna drive slow and easy for the next 5k miles so I'll just put some dollar store oil in this time."

When I first got my Ranger, my grocery runs into town (20 min away) would take me 3 hours and 150 miles... ? ?
