Dealer doesn't respond?

So being old and crusty, I've lowered my expectations for most things post-pandemic. As someone that can easily afford a Ranger, I have a dealer that just doesn't feel I'm worthy enough for them to bother with me and simply doesn't respond back when I've inquired about several vehicles. Sure, I know the typical response: "so what, move on and find another dealer". I agree with this sentiment and have no problem doing so, but maybe someone can help me understand the utter lack of any courtesy whatsoever. Mind you, I've already been the dealer twice and have test rode some vehicles. Two different salesmen won't respond to me. Odd or am I just old?

Go to another dealership and purchase the vehicle you want!.........then, drive back to the dealership that is ignoring/disrespecting you with your new vehicle......walk in and speak with the GM......take him outside and show him your new vehicle and what sale they missed because they were being asshats!

I don't think dealers would care?

Before ordering my Ranger, I sent out a request for the "out-the-door" price on the model I wanted to 10 dealers. One said they would only give me a price if I visited their showroom and another said they would not response to internet pricing. Their loss, I scratched them off my list. I suggest you do the same to the dealer that is not responsive to you.

The problem right now is there's more demand than supply. Back when lots were full an they had left overs at the end of the year the sales people would be recalling all the people that popped in but didn't buy during slow periods of the day.

My dealer was pretty nice to me, my neighbor introduced me to the gm. He buys quite a few vehicles from them so maybe that had something to do with it. ?
If you live in a big city I can see your situation happening unfortunately. Too many buyers around. Small town no idea why.

I just find it odd that a dealer doesn't want my money.
It is odd.........however, I learned a long time ago like many others......don't judge a book by its cover. Had a gentleman come into our office many years ago....torn bib overalls.....dirty and torn jacket.....boots with holes in 'em......you'd look at him and think he hasn't got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.........turns out he was one of the largest land owners here and had several million in the bank! Now, I'm not saying you present yourself in a bad way.....they obviously see something that makes them question! IMHO, that's disrespectful.

But you forget to mention rising interest rates. They've doubled in a short time.

Very similar. I know a guy that knows the Owner. VERY Helpful. I also have had 3 cars from the same salesman. I will only deal with him. He has to run back to the sales manager and even the finance guys. I won't even speak to them. They hate it, but that's how I avoid 90% of the BS. Plus it's faster.
