Just today went through this. Not related to key fob or truck battery in my case. Sensors in door handles need more warm, that’s it.
Asked advice from my mechanics colleagues at work and from Ford about this, no one couldn’t tell me that’s so simple.
Hi Kristina,

I can not speak for the Wildtrack, but here for North American Ranger these sensors must function down to -40°F or C as this temperature is the same on either temperature scale as the scales overlap at this point. You think the World of Ford Development is the cats Meow....Try changing engine parts in -40°....not fun.... Been there, Done that!

Best,
Phil

Mine work perfectly fine in the cold.

This morning when I left work it was 3° F, windchill around -10.

When I have intermittent Intelligent Access problems it's usually because the truck is dirty. If not, and ongoing, I'd be looking for a battery.

I've had mine fail to work in the cold too. This was back last year in essentially the middle of a snowstorm (not fun). Driver side didn't work all day. Next day, just fine. Hasn't happened since, but I've also played around with Forscan to allow the battery to charge to 90% vs 70% as well.

@P. A. Schilke - My knuckles hurt just thinking about wrenching at that temp!

Had the same symptoms. Only drivers door worked with touch access. Would turn it off and back on under settings and it would work....once. Replaced battery 100% fixed it.

FWIW, over the past 10 years I have had 6 new vehicles (4 Ford, 2 Mopar) with intelligent access. All of them have occasionally had issues with the door handle sensors. Most off it is during the winter when they have been exposed to snow or slush but also if they have been wet in warm weather. They all return to normal operation when they have had a chance to dry out.
The two Mopars have a physical button on the door handle for the lock function, it has never acted up.

Hi, Phil.

Even though EU and US Rangers are very different I think this system in general is the same.
I visited Ford yesterday. I know it’s not batteries related or key fob signal issue. Since I also had problem with distance start, I decided to play around a little before Ford takes it in to diagnostics in a month. I didn’t clean or touch the handles inside. I played also with app and door handles, held my hand longer. What was the real trigger, don’t know, but took a little time and struggling to get both doors work. Hopefully solved or if repeats, can be solved same way.
Ford suggested to take her to warmer room for some time.

I do not have to change parts in extreme cold. I don’t earn money with that.
-25C and gear box, I hope that remains my one and only memory from that kind of topic.
