My apologies Walter.
I was a doubter and wondered what happened to the original thread.
Glad everything worked out and that you came back and updated everyone on the resolution.
I did add the cover a while back but I'll be checking my plugs soon since my truck usually sits around outside a lot.
Excuse me now, I may have to apologize in another thread...?

So, I picked up a cover from my dealership today. Label on the box says L1MZ-6A949-A. But, the number stamped on the cover is L1ME-6A949-CD. I looked up that number and it says it is for 2020-2023 Explorer 2.3 EcoBoost. Does anyone know if these are the same cover? My Ranger is on order so I can't test fit it. Thanks.

Hmmm....can you post an image of the cover?

Not right now, but it looks identical to the Ranger cover (I should have mentioned that).

I would think this is so as I don't think there is much difference, if any, under the hood.

Years ago, I went to the Ford Parts Counter looking for a front license plate bracket to fit my 2005 Mustang. "No longer available" was the answer. Strangely, the bracket was still available for the 2007 Cobra, which turned out to be identical. I ended up buying it from a Mustang parts house.

The “doubt” was an important element in helping me use my words correctly:) it was a “doubter” that gave me the idea of posting the service advisors extension. That’s really how everything came together and worked out for me! Thank you!!!

Looks identical from the top side, but I'm worried about the bottom with all the specific raised areas......guess I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow.

Walt,
Thank you for posting your experience. When members share their problems, it helps us to learn what to look for and how to prevent issues. Very helpful and beneficial. Because of the information on this forum about this subject, I ordered a cover which arrived yesterday and will be installing it shortly and will post pics. I was also glad to be informed on here about the faulty 2-piece lug nuts that come on the Rangers: What did you do to your Ranger today? | Page 986 | 2019+ Ford Ranger and Raptor Forum (5th Generation) - Ranger5G.com

Unfortunately, there are trollers on every forum. I Ignore them and they go away. This thread appropriately and constructively deals with those types: Reason For My Absence | 2019+ Ford Ranger and Raptor Forum (5th Generation) - Ranger5G.com The wide majority of members here are mature and emotionally stable. This forum is valuable, interesting and a lot of fun!

Paul,

The engine cover also protects the GPPPS which will be something you’ll come to appreciate.

Isn't that the module that duke @DukeCanBuildit used to track everyone?

What? No, no, no. None of those. Not even close Mike.

It’s the Global Precision Parking Positioning System. It’s only needed on Sabre Rangers. It’s standard equipment on the Sabre Lariat but you can turn it off in Forscan, which I think @Tracy Bowman did.
