Quiet what down? My STX is quiet. Not sure what all this engine noise talk is about. It really quiets it down .. very noticeable... and looks a lot better than the rats nest of wires

It was to stop those with XL and XLT from asking why they didn't have the engine cover. It's only on the LARIAT trim level. In layman's terms do we know what this tsb is for? I have a lariat. Have about 400 miles on it and the engine suddenly developed a strange noise. Definitely motor related. It's a low vibrating buzz as if a hidden belt had a fray rubbing against plastic. The tone goes up and down a bit with RPM. Hard to hear at idle but the moment you start pulling away ( no mashing gas required) the noise picks up. Wife hears it too from passenger seat. I hear it more on the drivers side straight in front of the steering wheel. No warning lights and no drivability issues
Its cosmetic! Why does only the Lariat have this cover and the other trim models (XL & XLT have the same engine) does not? What is the function of this engine cover?
When I test drove, it was a Lariat Sedan 'cause that's all they would build... my STX Coupe sounds the same to me.I wonder if the Lariat has other sound deadening features that we just don't know about.
Has anyone driven the different trim levels and noticed any difference?
Do you have the part numbers for the parts you ordered, I see a lot of fuss going on about this but no one has posted the Ford part #'s so anyone who wants to do this can... Thx!On all the YouTube videos from last year all trim levels had the cover ... I was pissed when my truck did not have it ... just ordered one from dealership 48 bucks after tax with the studs and nuts ... going to paint it like a flag ..
Got my cover today, its a foamy/plastic type of material. I suspect is will quiet it down some, though thats not why I got it. Too bad they sent me four nuts and zero studs...had to contact dealer, they are sending me the missed item..I actually found the correct part numbers for the cover, studs [2] & nuts [2]:
ordered today 2-5 days out.
Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
-W520201-S450B Lower Track Nut $3.58 2 $7.16
-W714647-S450B Stud $1.93 2 $3.86
L1MZ-6A949-A Cover $50.58 1 $50.58
Subtotal: $61.60
Estimated Economy Shipping: $13.71
Tax: $5.27

Total: $78.52

I dealt w/Chris..quick responses to my questions.
no, still waiting on the studs...Do you have any before and after pictures?
maybe/maybe not...then again I'm not taking off the OEM exhaust & throwing what $500-ish on an exhaust mod? Whatever really dont care 'cus Im not gonna hate on anyone for doing what they want with their money....certainly NOT gonna use the word 'crazy'.$35 + few extra for the bolts/stud...crazy to pay $80 for this...it's made of foam so I'd say it dampens the noise a tiny bit...but who cares with my MBRP exhaust
dont thank me, thank google pix...though mine looks just like the 2nd pix now! Thanks for the pics!
This type of practice is not isolated to Ford, other auto makers including luxury brands either omit or include the engine cover depending on the trim level/package purchased.Totally agree. Ford should start thinking the way we see it. "Cheezy". All the competitors have an engine cover on all trim levels. Yes, I understand the start up production costs of getting this truck built, but geeez.
