But yeah, I can really see the OP’s big concern over those excess pieces of rubber/foam from the moulding process that weren’t trimmed properly so that when people are on their backs contorting to see up around the leafs and under the truck to see if the bumper meets FDA QA guidelines. ?I guess we can chalk up the jounce bumper ring up to a deleted cost savings. My 21 Tremor is missing it. You can tell they get used though. My guess is the ring provides a certain amount of extra load rating capacity. I feel slighted by Ford in a way, but will get over it I guess.

I'm pretty certain it increases the spring rate. I used to use plastic shims on the Miata builds I used to do. On those, the jounce went over the strut rod itself and we used shims to add progressive spring rate effect on compression.My 2019 has it but WTH is it for? Does it do anything? I can see where one could think the notches shouldn't be there and it should be completely filled top to bottom. Also, I think the rings might be exclusive to Supercabs.

The middle section is beefier and lower section is more conical. Maybe payload related?
