if you look closely, you can see his truck parked outside the plant.
I’m not sure why he drives, it’s only what, about 8 miles from his house, right? ?‍♂

That wasn't the trigger. It was when he said, "Never seen anything like this on my 2012 Tacoma or 2016 T4R. Ford needs to improve quality control. Pinch welds look like heck, too. Love the Ranger but wish Ford manufactured as well as Toyota."
Yeah, there was that too....

My contract at CIBC wraps up Monday - I would apply but I might need to embellish my Skills, Education and Knowledge Requirements.

Does anyone think maybe it is time to give the guy a break?

Just my $.02.
Maybe. Then I re-read his initial diatribe and think it's deserving, especially since he hasn't said anything after everyone assured him they aren't defective.

I’m a plastics and rubber engineer... how can an assembly worker install something like this??? Both sides are bogus.

...they are obviously defective from factory. Never seen anything like this on my 2012 Tacoma or 2016 T4R. Ford needs to improve quality control. Pinch welds look like heck, too... wish Ford manufactured as well as Toyota. They charge enough for the product!
Instead of doing a search or asking a simple "is this normal" question, he assumes he knows more than anyone, and bashes a manufacturer and workers for his ignorance, then disappears, I assume out of shame.

He came on here and ranted for catharsis. Super annoying, but perhaps our responses belong in the "grind my gears" thread at this point.

would anyone like to imagine a solid bump stop though?
wonder what kind of spine damaging thud that would make when your cerebral cortex compresses into your neck?
No doubt about that. I raced cars as a hobby many moons ago and one of the tricky tuning items was cutting the elastomer donuts that went onto the shaft and acted as a bump stop. The curve that resulted in the various cone shaped stops could make or break how the car reacted at the limit when you hit a bump, curb, etc. You wanted a progressive curve that kept you on the track when the suspension was loaded, that also made sure you didn’t bottom the shock and break a very expensive part on the car.

People take them for granted, but bump stop engineering is pretty high tech stuff.

I understand what you are saying, it just seemed like a lot of piling on, for what the OP probably thought as a simple blowing off some steam post, however misinformed the starting point. Just one man’s perspective though.

Just got oil change and tire rotation at Ford Laconia (Ford points, yippee). They took pictures and ordered new replacement bumpers for me. Mechanic said he’s had a few Raptors in with same issue. I’ll get pics of new bumpers when they come in and also originals when removed to post.. so far so good…….

Your mechanic is full of shit. Raptor bumpstops are not the same design or material.

Nailed it. the Raptor bump stop is a full, solid linear bump stop, not progressive like the one on the Ranger. I suspect it's not the mechanic that's full of it though.

OP, can you post more photos of your current bump stops?

Intimately familiar as they replaced the factory stops on my Ranger when I did my suspension. After fighting those bolts I'll never forget.
