I delivered a set of Mickey Thompsons to a tire shop last week, not on rims, and I couldn't believe how much heavier they are than "normal" pickup tires.

The old curmudgeon working there was bitching about how people that can afford these tires don't care about fuel mileage then quickly moved on to people that put spacers and big offsets and how they are bad for the suspension. 40 second conversation in total, and I couldn't wait to get away from the miserable SOB. ?

I reset my mpg display every fill-up and almost never see less than 20 mpg on a tank.
It's early yet but I installed slightly larger A/T's three weeks ago and adjusted the size on Forscan. OE 255/65-17 vs. new 265/70-17. GPS and radar speed signs indicate it's correct. So far I seem to have lost 1 mpg.

I wasn't "as aware" as I thought I was. LOL lesson learned. I usually only go offroad when on hunting trips and that's quiet a bit in the Fall. I'm not an avid offroader.
I'm gonna save and get some nice A/T's. I've had good luck with the BFG's over the years.

My Jeep Rubicon came with BFG Mud Terrain tires and they were good off-road but scary on wet roads. You might also look at Goodyear Duratracs which is what I replaced my MTs with.

Yeah, I used to think it sucked getting old but, now I say that getting old is a gift. I lost my wife to cancer a couple of years ago. Changed the way I think about alot of things.

Same here Randy, I lost my wife 4 years ago to cancer 4 days before our 48th anniversary. At least for me, that event changed my outlook on life.

who turns down their stereo to see better?

I do not turn down the stereo to see better. I turn down the stereo to Focus better. Music is a distratction which is fine on a long drive but when trying to read multiple signs quickly distractions are not what is needed.

I've been clicking along enjoying better fuel mileage with the stock wheels and tires back in play. It's currently showing in the 23 mpg range. Much better than before!

Well Lucky me, today I got this message on the way home from work. I guess the tire monitors or system didn't like the OEM's being stored away for a few months. Been driving fine since Saturday. Weird that it's only showing one tire pressure. At first it wasn't showing any at all but the right front came on before I got home. Can't imagine that all are bad.
The truck is still under warranty, I guess I'll have to give the dealer a call tomorrow.

I had a similar thing on my focus when I would switch back from winter tires. Im not sure how long you’ve had that there but mine would take up to a week from switching back go back to normal.

Few folks are willing to test their corning G force, even if they have access to a skid pad. Fact is, in everyday driving, it shouldn't take long before you notice the difference in handling. Push the vehicle with extra large tires, and topsy turvy you'll go. Turn off the stability control, and you'll roll the truck with very little effort.

Yes, the truck looks tougher with Raptor-sized tires, but remember, the suspension under a Raptor version is wholly different than the standard truck. Matters little if you change the shocks, you're still past the suspension design parameters Ford designed into the truck.

That's a crock of shit. I drive like a complete ass when the opportunity presents it's self. I'm lifted on 33"s and often drive with AdvanceTrak and Traction Control off in oder to hang it out a bit.

A little hint for you. Unless you're in sand mode it is IMPOSSIBLE to turn off all the nannys. Roll Stability Control will shut down the fun when you get more than about 15-20 degrees sideways.

Yes, larger tires and a lift will increase body roll and decrease handling capability. But it doesn't mean "your gonna roll if you turn stuff off."

Bottom line, don't drive beyond YOUR capabilities. The truck will do just fine.

Also; $5k in engine upgrades? That's what? Upgraded turbo, TBE, intercooler, hoses, and e30 tune? Can I see your dyno chart? Your probably at what 400 whp?

I had a couple sets of Firestone Destination A/T's on my old Sport Trac and liked them, good all-around tire and quiet for an A/T.
For the Ranger I recently got Cooper AT3's to save a few bucks, like $50 each over the Firestones. Too soon to say much but we had a monsoon today when I was on the highway and they were rock solid. Did have to go back to the tire shop after a week to have them rebalanced and I still feel a bit of shake so I don't know if it's the tires or the balancing job.

I wanted to try the Cooper AT3s on my truck but they were unavailable in my desired size (255/80 17) at the time so I went with the Toyo AT3s instead.

6 months later I needed tires for the YJ so I got the Coopers in a 32". I've been real happy with these on the pavement wet or dry. Haven't got 'em on the trails yet but the grip looks to be good. No snow on these yet for me, but the YJ is no snow monster anyways, so I'm sure they'll do fine.

Cooper is one of the last tire brands made in the USA if I'm not mistaken.

Hmm I was hoping to save you a trip to a dealer. I know that in my expiereince, the first two weeks I had the winter tires on nothing would come up, then it would pop up all the time. If you can maybe wait it out a week?
