Sounds funny, but...I'm guilty !!! Especially when I'm searching for something particular.

Yeah, I used to think it sucked getting old but, now I say that getting old is a gift. I lost my wife to cancer a couple of years ago. Changed the way I think about alot of things.
Randy, sorry to hear about your wife. That would definitely change the way you think.

I bought this truck in January. Owned it all of "three" days when I had it levelled and added new wheels and larger Toyo Open Country MT's "275/65-18". My fuel mileage has been unimpressive since I've owned this truck , 16-18 mpg on average at best, maybe 19 on a longer highway trip. One of the reasons I traded from my old F150 to the Ranger was the hope of better fuel mileage. With the current gas prices I've decided to see just how bad the larger MT tires have affected things and see how I like my truck with normal tires. This morning I swapped back the OEM Black appearance package wheels until further notice.
Well, I just returned home from a little 60 mile road trip around town and "HOLY S--T" this truck runs sooo smooth and quiet! I never knew how nice this truck could actually drive since I added the MT's so early on in ownership. I've also grown to "greatly" dislike the noise coming from the MT's!!
I cleared the mileage settings in my cluster and instantly its averaging 24-25 mpg in town. "HUGE improvement"
I guess I'm officially an old man now because I'm thinking more of economy and comfort over style nowadays. Heck, comfort is my middle name these days and this truck is so smooth, quiet, comfortable, and a pleasure to drive now.
Beside, my Ranger makes any wheel/tire combination look good! LOL

Well, there is good news. The trade-in on the Ranger is enough for a very comfortabe minivan and you can get window curtains instead of tint ;)

You're only as old as you act, I'm 51 going on 21.:rockon::rockon::rockon:

Take a look at the TOYO Open Country H/T II. I had them on my last Ranger and they tick all the boxes. Great mileage too. I use Fuelly like others on here. Get in the habit at every fillup and you got a nice history. Can also add in your service data so it’s all in one place.

Hey, the stock BAP wheels look pretty good, too, especially with the Black/Red contrast!

I hope this isn't a case of "I told you so....!"

Larger diameter tires do (at least) two things to fuel milage. Assuming you did not reset the tire size in the computer, the mileage will appear to be less. Remember, the tire rolls further per revolution (larger circumference). And let's not forget that extra effort is needed to accelerate the vehicle due to the larger radius of the tires. Read that as more fuel used.

Few folks are willing to test their corning G force, even if they have access to a skid pad. Fact is, in everyday driving, it shouldn't take long before you notice the difference in handling. Push the vehicle with extra large tires, and topsy turvy you'll go. Turn off the stability control, and you'll roll the truck with very little effort.

Yes, the truck looks tougher with Raptor-sized tires, but remember, the suspension under a Raptor version is wholly different than the standard truck. Matters little if you change the shocks, you're still past the suspension design parameters Ford designed into the truck.

It is your choice of course, but I prefer the OEM ride quality. In fact, I replaced the factory tires with Michelin LTs (same size as OEM). I was rewarded with much better ride quality all around. They're also grippier, with less wheel spin, even with the extra, under hood HP, ≈$5K will get you.

I delivered a set of Mickey Thompsons to a tire shop last week, not on rims, and I couldn't believe how much heavier they are than "normal" pickup tires.

The old curmudgeon working there was bitching about how people that can afford these tires don't care about fuel mileage then quickly moved on to people that put spacers and big offsets and how they are bad for the suspension. 40 second conversation in total, and I couldn't wait to get away from the miserable SOB. ?
