Well, the sizing isn't a problem for me or I wouldn't be considering this tire. Neither is the fact that it's exclusive to Discount Tire. I'm in the South West and you can hardly through a rock without hitting a Discount or Americas Tire (being facetious), they are everywhere.

The question is whether or not it's the tire for me based on how it performs on and offroad. The fact that it seems to pick up and throw small pebbles and stones more than the average A/T may be a deal breaker. That and the weight, though I don't mind the stronger protection in the tread area of a load range E rated tire.
Didn't think to much about the weight but a good point. Looking at 285/70-17 the tire is 58 lbs. The Firestone Destination XT's are 51 lbs a tire in that size and load E

I stumbled across some very positive reviews for the Goodyear UltraTerrain A/T. Apparently, it's a tire that Goodyear makes exclusively for @Discount Tire in limited sizes. It looks similar to a DuraTrac. Here is a link: https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/goodyear-wrangler-ultraterrain-at

I've always liked the looks of Duratracs, but there are far too many complaints of them being noisy or getting noisy after some miles are put on them. The reviews I've been watching on YouTube and reading online for this tire are fairly good. People are saying they aren't noisy like DuraTracs can be and are wearing exceptionally well. Is anyone here running these tires or know someone who is?

The one issue for me is that the 285/70R17 is a load range E at 58 lbs. I had my eye on the BFG KO2 since it's a load range C at 51 lbs. I've been holding off waiting for the new KO3, but they still haven't been released yet.
I'm running a set of these in 265/70/17 SL and can confirm they love picking up rocks and flinging them once they're back on pavement. Balancing was pretty normal, nothing unusual there, but again, SL load. I can't really say what they've done to my mileage because I didn't have the stock Hankooks on long enough to make a comparison. I can say the mileage is pretty much the same as it was with my previous set of Cooper AT4s in the same size -- around 18 - 19mpg -- but I make a lot of short trips and drive 75-80mph when on the highway. They're a hair louder than the Coopers, with more of a slight whine than noise when over 50mph, but not anywhere near as loud as they should be given the aggressive (for an AT) tread pattern. Traction in the rain is as good as the Coopers, and better than the Coopers in lose dirt, rocks, and light slop. I haven't had them in snow yet, but I expect they'll be at least as good as the Coopers. They were great on the last road trip through New Mexico and Texas, even better than I expected on the highway.

i saw a set of those at sams club recently and the price tag is not bad. less than other tires in similar category. ive never used them so cant say much . I was not impressed with the dura tracs. they look cool but wear fast and have a semi weak side wall. in fairness that was my feelings based on one set that was used pretty harshly on a farm truck, so maybe we got a few from a bad batch. they may be better quality now. id say we were more demanding of them than most drivers are as well.
