Hello, id like to know what exactly does this FORD PERFORMANCE graphic on my window mean? I’m asking because Ford website says the FORD PERFORMANCE tune requires premium 91 fuel and I’ve been running 87 octane for the past 6 months (since I bought it). I don’t know a lot about it but I do know the wrong fuel can cause internal damage. I just discovered yesterday that i could be using the wrong fuel. Also i don’t know if it’s even the FORD PERFORMANCE tune or some guy just stuck it there to look cool but i assume its the ford performance tune. Please help.

It is only the wrong fuel when it detonates/pre-ignition. Just lower octane equals more risk. I think these have a pretty good knock sensor if it can run 20psi of boost on 87 with stock trim. Them and the ECM had your back it seems.

Aka I wouldn't worry about damage because it never went boom, threw blinking check engine lights, etc.

On the tune. Call them and see if it was done. The advantage to the Ford tune is the Ford warranty stays on place, just reduced for the engine. They may have a record of it. If not they can see with a scan but they may want a few bucks to run that depending on the dealer.

Did you get a a tuner box similar to the one below? Most likely someone stuck the sticker on there just for show.

Hey Isaiah,

That sticker may not have anything to do with a tune. It could have come in the box of any of a number of Ford Performance parts or accessories. It might also be a sticker the previous owner got from a friend. ?

Your dealer can tell if it has the FP tune - have a look at your shocks - they might be Ford Performance Fox upgrades, which would be great and would have levelled out the truck a bit because it lifts the front end a bit.

Looking at your avatar, it appears you are lifted/levelled, so maybe it’s the shocks….or both…..or more - you never know.

If I remember correctly, any Ford Performance part(s) come with the sticker. If someone add the FP Coil overs it comes with the sticker. So as others have said, it may not have the tune. I would do an inventory of what is on your Ranger, you may find it is not the tune. Good Luck and I would run 92 octane no matter anyway. I know it is up there now, but it will run better with or without the tune. One way you can check if it is the tune, check your air filter, if it is a K&N, it may be the tune.

i have the ford perf. pack tune that came with the tune, touchscreen device and air filter etc. and it didnt come with a sticker like that. it did come with the number for emissions inspection data etc. that is supposed to be stuck on the truck some place visible to the inspection tech. look around and look for a white square with the ford perf logo and a long number with black digits. if you find one, run prem fuel.

Pop your hood open. Is there a Ford performance sticker near the lock hatch? If so, contact Ford performance with the tune verification code and see if it’s still active.

There are 3 Ford Performance Ranger packs offered by Ford. All come with the Ford Performance graphics.

FP level 1 is upgraded fox suspension, wheel’s, and graphics.
FP level 2 adds bigger tires and a Ford Tune, blue tow hooks, and LED lights.
FP level 3 adds a sport exhaust, chase rack, winch capable bumper, and red tow hooks.

Personally I thinks you may be reading too much into a simply Ford Performance sticker that is probably available in many places. If this is really bothering you contact Ford Performance and check if a tune is registered to your VIN. If so go back to who you bought your truck from and ask where your tuner is. If not enjoy your truck and don't worry about it.

First you nees to know if the tune was ever installed. Second if it wasnt the owners manual states that 87 is the minimum allowed and that for better performance and towing to use 91 and up. Simple as that. If it is tunes 91 and up it is
