I bought mine last Saturday at a small dealership in south TN. I could only get them to come $250 off MSRP. They did value my ragged out Focus pretty well. In this market, I was okay with it.

Well, I may eat my $1k deposit at my current dealer for a $3300 cheaper deal at another dealer.

I'm visiting my dealer on Monday to see if they match the price. If not, I'll cancel, eat my $1k, and still save over $2k for the other deal at a different dealer.

You shouldn't have to 'eat' anything. You've deposited on a vehicle and if you don't buy it, they owe you the deposit back.
Am I missing something here?

Right? I don't know why it's so difficult for people to say what the ACTUAL price was. All this equivocating and obfuscating "I paid x" (don't add in trade in) "I paid Y" (don't add in down payment), "I paid Z" (don't subtract upside down loan rolled into this deal). The price is the price. That's the number that matters. A 30k truck minus a 5k trade, minus a 3k down payment for a financed rate of 22k is.......a 30k truck. You paid 30k. It doesn't matter that 3k of that 30k was upfront. It doesn't matter that 5k of that 30k was in the form of a trade it. It wouldn't matter if you paid half in gold bricks or bitcoin. It's 30k. Not a difficult concept to grasp but seems like many have trouble grasping it.

We all (probably) know people who speak like this and frankly, it's just exhausting trying to fish the truth out of them. Like they have to one up the deal you got so they can "win" or something like that. And then you get into specifics, "wow that's a great deal, was that OTD?" Turns into "well yeah plus 3k tax". Oh ok, not that bad. Hey where did your other beater go? "Oh I traded that in when I got this." Oh so that number you said was that plus tax plus trade in? "Yeah". Oh, ok, so you paid sticker price for it basically. "Yeah". Ok. Don't be that guy.
Hope this helps, can't get more specific than this. Walk out the door price that included sales tax

Right, is this straight enough. I wrote a check for $35.125.33 for the truck in the pic with the window sticker listed. SCab, 4x2, 6ft bed, Lariat, 501A tech pack, spray in bedliner, splash guards, running board, trailer tow package, 18" chrome wheel appearance.

Price was walk out the door and included tax of 4.15 Virginia tax. I compute tax was $1,399.66 and price for the truck and whatever they tucked into it was $33,725.66

Cash sale, no trade in, no loan, no undercoat, sealant, maintenance package, nothing else but what is on the sticker. Military discount and some Ford discount. I did not really care what discounts they had as they play games with that too. All I cared about was walk out the door for what I was buying. I think it was a great price.

So don't be that guy, what are you buying and what are you paying for it. I don't really care if people are impressed or not on what I paid. More concerned with my money and getting just the truck I wanted.

I ordered on Apr 26 2021 and accepted delivery on Jan 11 2022.

I agree, I shouldn't but the deposit is non-refundable I believe. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow morning to see if they will price match this other deal I received. If not, I'll cancel and reorder at this other dealer for the better price. Plus no deposit needed with this other dealer. The savings alone is worth the wait.

I didn't. Refund is processing. Glad they didn't play hardball and try to keep it. Canceled the ordered fairly easy.

I got mine about a month ago, paid $1200 under MSRP and 0% finance. $1000 off from Ford, and 0% from Ford. The extra $200 was from the dealership to make it a nice round number. Had 18 miles on it at delivery. Seemed like a pretty good deal considering the market. Still overpriced for a Ranger tho!

I ended up paying 38k this past week. 2020 Ranger XLT with FX4 package, tow package, and sport appearance package with only 9k miles on it. At first I thought it was slightly overpriced, once I started looking at the pictures I realized it had the RTR package plus the leather RTR seats. the package itself is worth almost 10k without the leather seats. In this market I thought it was worth it, specially considering I found many without the RTR package and higher mileage for a higher price.

forgot to add this was in Los Angeles area.

How much of that was tax, around 3k? Seems pretty expensive to me but idk, LA I guess? What was the sticker price?

Yes, exactly. That's exactly how people ought to convey that info. And that seems like a great deal, as well. 33 on a 39, plus tax, with all the shortages and crazy inflation? Seems like a steal. Nice job.
I am like you in wanting a very direct answer to questions. Drives me nuts to get a load of sing-song and never get to the nut of the issue. We ain't politicians and no need to act like them rats.

I (finally) was able to buy one this past weekend - a perfect storm of sorts but it worked out. 2020 SuperCab, XLT Sport with 302A, 16k Miles, OTD @$31,500. "Perfect storm" being that Friday last week was its 60th day on the lot, and this dealer has a strict turn policy. The original used price was $37,500, but on day 60 the price got dropped by $6k. Registering in Montana, so no Sales Tax.

The savings alone were worth it, but I had also been waiting for 2 months for the headrest recall, with no end in sight. I bit the bullet and went used, but the savings were way worth it.
