I had Autovent Shade in channel on my 2011 Ranger and liked them. In channel are the only kind I would have as I do not like the look of the ones that adhere to the door. I think the Weather Tech in channel are what I will go with when I get around to placing an order for their floor liners.
I installed the Weather tech bug shield/stone deflector & like it.
I dont remember what vent visors I put on but have them to keep the rain out while having the window open an inch when parked. I do not like the wind noise they make, so I drive with the windows closed.
BTW, Weather tech does not make in-channel mounted visors for the Super Cab model........
i installed the avs bugshield II and it seems to do a great job. it uses screws too and not that stupid tape stuff. the screws aren't the best, but they work.
I have the weather tech and like it. I did see though that the installation directions that came with it were for AVS. I think that they may be one in the same.
Weather Tech makes the great majority of their products in the USA. If one of their products is made somewhere else, they WILL list it.
Don't know about all the window vent's they list, but the Ranger's, 2019-2021 are made in Germany (at least mine were as I was notified mine were on back order but a shipment was due in shortly...and it was coming from Germany) (they know how to make QUALITY products), and very possible that some of the AVS are made there also (thus the same directions)
My first experience with window deflectors was when I had to borrow a buddy's 2007(08?) Explorer SportTrac for a couple of months one summer in NC, and he had them. Mostly running around the mountains, and it was nice to have the windows cracked even when it rains. The biggest difference was when we were down in the low country/coast; i.e. high humidity & heat where the inside of the car feels like an oven when it's been parked anywhere there's no shade. My 2010 Escape had a sunroof, so I'd usually crack the vent to bleed out the hot air, but I discovered that on the SportTrac the sunroof closes automatically whenever you turn off the engine, even if it's just the vent that's cracked. Thanks to the deflectors, I could leave the windows open a crack without having to worry about rain or someone taking advantage of it to use an old coat hanger to snag the locks (yeah, I know, they've got plenty of other options...). It made the truck a lot more bearable to get back into after hours in the sun, so when I had to replace my old Escape and got my Ranger, I decided to get them. Can't say that I noticed them making more noise, and I took his truck across the state multiple times.
Please educate me: From what is the bug deflector intended to protect... front of hood or windshield?? Do they work particularly well? Any one design seem to be better than others.??
I have never had one... don't like the looks of them in any event but if taking a longer road trip in warm bug weather, I would consider installing for the trip then remove on return.
