Want to share predictions? Or maybe someone has some insider info, hehe ;)

From what I've read/seen, Ford has had pretty good, reliable tech in their hybrid cars (please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm anxious to see how the F-150 Lightning does.

The Ranger is the best selling pick-up in Europe, FoMoCo has committed to being fully electric in Europe by 2026. That's my best guess.

Since the next gen Ranger will have a PHEV version I would guess either later in gen 6 or when the gen 7 comes out we'll see a full EV Ranger.

Me too. From everything I have read the 6G Ranger will be available in the U.S. sometime second half of 2022 as a 2023 model year. The 6G Ranger PHEV will likely come the following year which would make it a 2024 model year. I'm hoping the PHEV will have the Pro Power Onboard generator like the F-150 Powerboost.

For Australia (and likely Europe) the 6G Ranger will be arriving as a 2022 model year and will be revealed sometime before the end of 2021. We will be able to learn a lot by reading and drooling over the Aussie reveal very soon.

Here's an indication:

On February 17, 2021, Ford announced that all commercial vehicles in Europe would be zero-emissions capable – all-electric or plug-in hybrid – by 2024.

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/2023-ford-ranger-plug-in-hybrid-confirmed

also, this from a few days ago:

On May 26, 2021, Ford’s announcements at the “Delivering Ford+” themed 2021 Capital Markets Day may have uncovered the first detail of a Ford Ranger EV. The company revealed that it plans to introduce BEVs with RWD/AWD drivetrain layout on a new dedicated BEV platform. Hau Thai-Tang, Chief Product Platform and Operations Officer, Ford, confirmed that the platform would spawn a mid-size electric pickup truck. Ford markets the Ranger as its mid-size pickup truck in the United States.

Our new rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive BEV flexible architecture will underpin a range of emotive vehicles slated for production between now and 2030, including active lifestyle vehicles with great driving dynamics, cargo vehicles for those whole value space and versatility for their commercial needs, pickups delivering legendary Built Ford Tough capability on mid-size trucks, rugged SUVs for our adventure-seeking customers, and high-margin, high-demand larger two- and three-row SUVs for families around the world, like Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator.
Hau Thai-Tang, Chief Product Platform and Operations Officer, Ford (Delivering Ford+/Capital Markets Day 2021)
Ford may have started the groundwork for the Ranger EV, but it will likely take at least two years before a prototype is shown to the media.

At the current rates of supply or lack of, they can’t get Bronco’s built let alone Mavrick’s. By the time it gets tooled in and bugs worked out probably be about 5 years from now.

Ford plans to make 15k F150 Lightnings in 2023 and hopes to make 80k by 2025. they'll have their hands full just trying to find enough batteries for those vehicles. I don't expect Ranger electric anytime soon.

They have already built one, but it must have been a flop.

That's pretty neat. Time frame coincides with similar EV projects at around that time in Europe. In Finland the main driver at that time was post office which utilized around 200 EV vans and some electric companies which had something like less than hundred. Idea that time was that the cost of driving EV would be significantly cheaper but when the cars got 6-7 years old the cost savings were not there and they were pretty shitty on the range.

Luckily for me when I got my Chevy Volt in 2012 those charging points were still up (230v/32A/Blue) and asking the building owners usually landed with permit to use them for free. For like 5 years I got to drive around and get free electricity until the charging station sales men got their business running and started to convert those free points to something new with 0.4$ for kWh and myriad of different apps for each.

Nowdays EVs might make it since the business case is not cost saving but feel good industry.

So far CA, NY, and MA have declared the end of gasoline-powered vehicle sales in their states by 2035 and the end of gasoline/diesel commercial sales by 2045 and I'm assuming more states will follow suit. Considering the development cycle of a vehicle is about 5 years I would imagine Ford won't invest in a gas powered Ranger beyond Gen6.

Don't get me wrong I like the EV ideology but where does everyone think the electricity/batteries are coming from? I have photovotaic on my house so the sun can provide me with energy but what about everywhere else. Power must be made to power these vehicles. Unless we cover the earth with solar panels, nuclear plants and wind turbines we will still be burning fuel. I don't have the answers but we are running not walking down a rabbit hole with this EV stuff. AND yes my wife drives a Subaru crosstrek hybrid.
