Nissan has the best system. Adjustable tracks up near the top of the bed, as well as on the floor.
These are similar to the Nissan system and I have been thinking about getting a set: https://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/collections/versatie-track-kits
Interesting. I'm not going to need them often, so I'm probably just going to go with a set of flat tie-downs and a set of truck bed cap/shell clamps. Thread the c-clamp bolt through the tie-down, then into the clamp. Cheap, simple, removable and barely visible. Strong enough for tarping, I'll leave securing heavy loads for the actual in-bed OEM tie downs.

Probably won't go with Rennline Tie Downs @ $60/set though.

As someone who's owned both ('16 Tacoma) the Ranger gets much better gas mileage. You have to remember that with the ecoboost motor you're going to get either eco (good gas mileage) or boost ( bad gas mileage) you can't have both.

The only thing the Tacoma has over the Ranger is their resale value, that's it! That's only because there are so many brain washed fan boys who no matter how bad the Tacoma is will still praise it and ridicule anyone who says different. Good luck with that bucking bronco drivetrain too.

I never saw these numbers with my Tacoma.

EXTANG TRIFECTA 2.0 TONNEAU COVER

and now I wish I had a topper, cap, whatever you want to call it.

This cover looks as good as the day i purchased it and is 99.9% watertight so I have no reason to get rid of it. On and off in minutes.

Guess it's a good problem to have.

My only regret is that Ford service departments do not have the panache or professionalism of Subaru, Toyota, Honda, etc. dealer service departments including the waiting rooms. This is the first non-import named vehicle I have purchased in 45 years and though I am extremely happy with all aspects of the Ranger with no regrets, Ford service departments cannot hold a candle to the others. It is like a different world. I don't know about GM or Chrysler as I have no experience with them.

It's to bad you and others have experienced this. I've owned Fords for the past 25 years and I guess have been lucky with good service here in AZ and back in MA. I was expecting it here in AZ as customer service in general anywhere here is sub par. Now I've had a salesman or two who I didn't like but never a problem with the service dept.

i had a Subaru before the ranger and the dealer/ service experience with Subaru was much better than i have experienced with ford so far. Ford dealers are hit and miss and you may have a great experience on one visit and a crap experience on the next visit even with the same dealer. Guess it depends on who is working that day

Hi Jay,

Unfortunately, this is across the USA....Ford needs to hold these dealers accountable but does not. It is up to you to find a good Ford Dealer....

That’s certainly not my experience with our Ford dealer.

Tempered glass screen protector for Sync 3 (8”). Was impossible to put on there properly, couldn’t move it to the right position and had to crack the protector to get it off. Screen is fine without it. I was just being stupid thinking I needed it.

I regretted the entire purchase after a month, so I took the hit and sold it back to the dealer for what was owed. It was a gorgeous truck: CC XLT 4x4 Terrain management Sport/Tow Package in Rapid Red. I added a bedrug liner (fantastic product!) and a retrax pro xr tonneau cover. Great cover but kills 12" of bed length.

Pros: Great looking truck, comfy interior, and that's about it.

Cons: The engine never sounded the same day to day. Some days it sounded like a WWII fighter at startup, I'm guessing that was the fan. Some days the engine itself just sounded "off", as if something was wrong in there. Random engine rattles, pops, or gurgles. Sometimes it'd shift so hard I thought I'd break a u-joint. Payload capacity is shit. Doesn't matter anyway, the 5' bed can't carry much besides bags of mulch or a few bicycles (with forks over the tailgate) anyway. I would've forgiven the shortness of the bed if they'd simply dropped the height a few inches and made it accessible from the side. It's as shitty as a first gen Honda Ridgeline.

Terrain management Four wheel drive was absolute garbage. Simply could not compete in any category with my Subaru Crosstrek. Simply put: It could not go places where my Crosstrek went with ease.

After doing the math, as a truck it is useless. Towing capacity excluded, a Subaru and a 2000lb 5x8 utility trailer walks all over the 5G Ranger in every single solitary category.
Interesting to read this. As someone who recently purchased a 2021 Ranger, I find the vehicle complements my 2016 Forester and 2021 Crosstrek well.

For winter roads without deep snow, nothing beats a Subaru with snow tires (IMHO). We bought our Ranger to fill the gaps the Subbies can't do (in addition to wanting another vehicle to add to the family fleet). Those gaps are 1) towing a travel trailer and 2) getting us further on dirt forest roads that challenged the Subarus.

I'll add that I love this truck so far. Only issue I want to improve is the bouncy ride. I'll be ordering a Fox 2.0 kit soon though :)

Im not happy with my weathertech floor mats. They only seem to grip at the connection point and while using your feet to adjust your posture they can put stress on 1 of those 2 connection points. The permanent roommate already broke 1 on the passenger side.
I'm about to get either weathertech or husky. Has anyone else had this issue with #4416401?
(If yes, i'll go with husky)

Tailgate damper for sure

I calculated how much time of my life will be wasted waiting for it to drop, and found out it was 11 months, 2 weeks 6 days and 12 hrs give or take a bit.
Imagine all the other things i could do?

I could go to the gym and do bicep curls and stay strong
Just do bicep curls to close it and tricep push downs using that damper for added resistance!

I have to admit, when I bought a big heavy bag of puppy chow today (because my lab girl eats like a horse) I had to roll my eyes and wait for the gate to drop as I stood there with the bag in my hands while sporting that "oh it's the damn damper" look on my face. I'm used to grabbing the bag with 2 hands opening and drop the gate and toss the bag in and shut the gate and head home. Now I get to stand there in the cold while my "valet tailgate opener" does it's thingy...??? now if only it had a way to drop the gate with the key fob...?

I went with Husky floor liners for my XLT Ranger and loved them from the moment I took them out of the box. Having Weathertech on our Ford Edge and they worked great too.

For my wife's new Lariat Ranger we ordered Husky floor liners and she found them as great as I had told her.
