OK. Yeah, a simple reflash of the same software won't do anything. Did they escalate it at all back to Ford or anything?
Yes, it was escalated back to Ford. Who knows how long that will take to be resolved.

Just as I expected... Sorry to heat that.
I'm not surprised either. Most likely I'll be ordering the adapter ForScan. Who knows how long it will take them to resolve this. May as well fix it myself and taken the opportunity to make some other changes while I'm at it.

I talked to my dealer just now, they heard back from Ford Engineering and they have an update, I'm dropping it off tomorrow to get it fixed. I'll follow-up when it's done. Hopefully this takes care of it.

This is good news and not altogether unexpected by me. Ford has there own 'equivalent' of FORScan and they have access to your As-Built files and I would think they can just reflash your APIM AS-Built file to fix the Climate issue (guess on my part). In any event I think once corporate engineering gets involved with a dealer issue they won't let it go unasnwered and once the mothership has the answer it filters down to all the dealers.

EDIT: I jumped the gun on this....

That's my hope. I'm a little frustrated that it took multiple days for them to find a fix, though they probably don't have a @UofMEngineer on staff at the dealership to help solve it.

I'm more bothered by this particular dealership that 1) they didn't have anywhere near a good phone number for me, despite my providing it twice, they didn't get even the area code or prefix correct; and 2) "That department is really backed up so I'm going to need it for at least 4 hours" - because apparently appointments don't mean anything. The latter bothers me more probably. Though this is a new dealership I'm using and and altogether uncommon issue so I'm going to give them some slack this time.

So wait, if you did the update and lost climate controls can you fix it with Forscan?? I have used it in the past to make some modifications already.

I lost the climate controls with the update, what can I edit on forscan to restore them?

See this post for a way to determine if you’ll have the problem prior to updating. Beyond that, all I can say is all information on the problem has been reported for investigation / a fix. Unfortunately, that’s about as far as my assistance on that can go. I’d guess there will be some SSM to dealers on it eventually that may have more information.
That website is now working again. I ran my VIN and for 7D0-04-01, I do not have an 8 in the second set of numbers. Before I run the update, are the reported issues in this thread with the backup camera losing resolution related in any way? Is there a way to know if you will be affected by that issue a head of time?

Also, can you do this update over WiFi yet or is it still only USB. Any differences?

Good to hear. Hopefully it's something generic they can blast out to the dealer network.

FYI, technically the only one you'd need to switch is Climate Domain to get the screen back.

No 8, OK to update. WiFi updates aren't turned on yet. No idea on the backup camera item. They wouldn't be related to the specific Climate item.

Correct. FORScan or maybe the dealer.
Fixed it for you.

Let's see if their fix works. Sure hope it does. Well be calling our dealer near the end of the day to check if Engineering got back to them.

I mean, ultimately, they have to. This is a warranty issue that Ford will have to fix at the end of the day. I'm just hoping it doesn't need another visit for me after tomorrow.

Just did my wife's new 'stang this morning without a hitch, (went from 3.3 to latest 3.4). Did the firmware from a flashdrive downloaded from Ford. Then did her map updates. Total time, about 40 mins for both.
Somewhere between a couple a weeks ago, my ranger firmware updated to the latest over the air by itself...
No problemos. Both vehicles now have the latest updates. All climate control and stuff are intact...
