My two horse bumper pull. Still need to get the trailer brake controller added and see how the truck does with the new wheels and tires.

Hi Josh,

How much does a horse weigh approximately? how much does the trailer weigh? I think you might be exceeding the bumper tow maximums but not being a horse person...I do like them, but have no experience with a horse's weight. You really need trailer braking in my opinion, for the safety of you, the horses and the vehicles around you on the road....

Im pulling from a class 3 hitch not the bumper. The trailer weighs 3100lbs and the horse is roughly 1000. It’s called a bumper pull trailer but I’m not actually pulling from the bumper. The truck stops just fine without the trailer brakes it’s just smoother with them.

Towed for the first time- forest river 2020 Island wild 4900 lbs dry and 27 ft long. We traveled up some steep hills and could definitely hear that engine working hard! We have a EQ hitch and didn't have swaying issues.
Hi Dan,

Running 91 or 93 octane?

Hi Dan,

Recommend using premium when towing something that heavy.

While I do not have any photos of it, we recently had a landscaping project here at home, and we had to rent a trailer. The trailer weighed about 2000 lbs and the pallet of retaining blocks weighed about 2900 lbs, close to the max of the trailer. My ranger pulled it without any issues. I was so proud and the wife was impressed as well. We did not have any issues and it helped keep the trips to the Hardware Store to a minimum. Now I am itching for a trailer so that we can move our ATV's back and forth to where we go 4 wheeling.

First pull with the Ranger towing a Yamaha SX 195. Total weight is probably a bit over 3k lbs, so no real issues. With ideal conditions pulled it most of the time in 10th gear. 20mph crosswinds on the way home it stayed mostly in 9th, and not much searching around for the right gear, so I’m impressed with that.

We just upgraded to something much larger, posts like this make me feel better. We pick it up Thursday.
