Just got mine back too, new High Pressure Fuel Pump everything looks good now. I hope it stays like that. They told me to keep an eye on it and bring it back in 200 miles they want to make sure everything is alright!! Got damn good service nothing to complain about with the dealer!!
That is great news! We often hear about lousy service departments but there are lots of excellent ones out there also. I am lucky to have a great service department that takes good care of me.

Please keep us posted on your oil levels.

Same here. Dealer was really supportive. We’ll just have to keep the finger crossed.

Great to hear! Bringing mine into a dealer tomorrow for the first time since my recent move to Illinois. Hopefully I can have a similar experience! Hope the fix works for you guys!

Just dropped mine off at the new dealer here in Illinois. Hoping for some good results. Question though, do the service managers generally have much knowledge about vehicle maintenence and repair? The service manager I was talking to just kind of gave me the thousand yard stare and didn't seem to be the least bit interested as I was describing the issue and showing him the oil analyses. Wasn't sure if he just didn't understand what I was talking about or if he was just a jerk. Just kind of irked me I guess. The tech seemed good and knowledgeable though, and that's what matters more I suppose.

Yeah the tech and Ford are the ones that count, from what I see is Ford usually has a plan on this for the dealer to follow!

He probably simply didn't know about it. I talked to the Service Manager where we bought our Ranger about the issue 2 weeks ago, he said he wasn't personally aware of any Rangers with that issue.

Let me put it this way:
  • There are 5,041 members here.
  • There a handful of folks that have the increasing oil level issue.
So the reality is it's not that prevalent. If it's happening to you however... it's a huge deal, which is totally understandable.

That's good information to know, hopefully it's just some bad fuel pumps that got into the parts bin!!

Well I take it back, I feel bad for bashing on the guy because he is really hooking me up. They weren't able to detect excessive fuel in the smell of the oil, which is somewhat understandable since I just changed the oil 150 miles or so ago (though I can definitely already smell it myself). But due to the results of the oil analyses I've had done they decided to go ahead and replace the hpfp! Hopefully this fixes it and I can go back to fully enjoying this awesome truck. They'll have the part in on Friday.

And those are some encouraging numbers to think about. We know for a fact that there are people on this forum who have run an oil analysis and come back with almost no fuel dilution, hopefully more good ones than bad ones.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the 3rd HPFP replacement for this issue reported on this forum in the past week, after months of people reporting no real action by Ford. Perhaps this is a sign that Ford is finally admitting there is an issue?

I was thinking maybe I should wait for another year of production before buying a new Ranger but results of the Consumer Reports survey are favorable. Major/minor engine problem reliability is scored 5 and 4 on a scale of 5 and:

Good luck, don't feel bad sometimes I speak a little to soon myself. Hopefully it fixes all the guys up who have had the fuel pump changed!!
