I'm 52, my first Ford is my Ranger 2020 XLT FX4. I grew up riding on my grandpa's WWII jeep Willys while growing up in Phillipines. My Dad brought me here in States when I was 16, learned how to drive stick on a 70's VW dasher and later 86 Camry. My first owed truck was the 22RE Toyota truck I bought after saving enough money during desert storm, while serving in the the USMC. I owed several vehicles like Jeep Cherokee, Dodge V6 1500 Truck, FJ Cruiser, 1991 4runner 4WD, Prius( just to save gas, daughter using for college now). We still have the 2007 Fj Cruiser. I'm currently waiting for the new Bronco and Ranger Raptor for the wife and I'll be keeping my Ranger.
I definitely love the way this Ranger ride.

I'm 62
I learned to drive on my Dad's mid-60s (67?) Chevrolet C10, 3 speed on the column.
My first car was a 1968 Mustang fastback. Bought it a few months before I turned 16.
My Ranger is a 2021. It's my second Ranger, the first was a 2019.

I learned how to drive in my Dads 73 Chevy truck 3 speed on the column. My first car was a 1969 Camaro 4 speed Hurst shifter. My first Ford is a 2022 Ford Ranger Lariat. I have always been a Chevy guy. My nephew works at Ford so I got the A-plan and bought my wife a 2021 Lincoln Corsair and then my Ranger. Still have 2 Chevy's 1998 S10 and a 2017 Chevy Camaro.

I'm 49.

My first car and first Ford was a 1985 Escort I got as a hand-me-down from my sister. I learned to drive with that car and with my dad's 1983 Ranger (4x4, manual trans).

I've also had a 1993 T-bird Super Coupe (manual trans) and a 1988 Bronco (351 Auto).

Current ride is a 1998 Ranger XLT Supercab 4x4 with the 4.0 and manual tranny. Can't kill this thing. When I give it to my son to drive next year, I bet HE will. :)

my first Ford as my own was a 1988 Ranger, second was a 1989 ranger.
Then owned a 1996 ranger, a 1998 Explorer, 2000 explorer.
Moved into the F150 in 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015.
Then got into a 2019 Ranger, a 2017 Focus and a 2020 Escape, which all three are still in the household.
In the middle I also owned a 2005 Focus manual, and a 2013 escape.
Damn, that a lot of vehicles.

Hi RBN,

Arrrrrrrg...have know Steve Saleen for many years.... Stories on these forums...

Best,
Phil
That's epic! How'd you meet him?

I'm sure he's aware, but that series VI supercharger is an AMAZING addition to the 3V and I consider myself extremely lucky to have one for free! Might not be a valuable asset right now, but between the Bullitt package and the Saleen kit I think I've got a pretty special car in my garage.

Hi YBN,

The short story is I inadvertently created a professional Race Series with the SCCA called the RaceTruck Challenge. So I ended up supporting Ford's effort (See other threads for the long story) and Special Vehicle Operations chose Saleen Autosports to run the Ranger racetruck program. I worked quite closely with Saleen on this program. Then when the program folded due to typical SCCA mismanagement, we have kept in touch... China really killed him as he lost a ton of money on that venture...

One of the racetrucks I built at Livernois for the Saleen Team....

Saleen behind the wheel.....

There is a long history of our man Phil and all things Ford, especially Ford Ranger Racing, including Saleen, Livernois, and anyone else who turned a wrench on a Ranger race truck or prototype. Here’s a little light reading to help you see the bigger picture….

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/p-a-schilke-back-stories.18745/

It’s a good thing it’s a long weekend, you‘ll need the time. ?

Enjoy. ?
