@DirkM I may order another one from you without the rails. It works fantastic with my Samsung Galaxy S8 but my Note 9 is just a touch too long.

It took a few weeks to warm up but now I can finally print ABS. Had to make a few adjustments to make it not warp during the print but the bracket is pretty much the same as before.

The first picture shows the bracket right after being printed and it has the typical 3D printing "texture".

The next picture is a bracket without rails, after some sanding, priming and painting with flat black spray paint. There are two spare rails that can be attached using superglue or acetone before painting to fit the phone if needed.

The last picture was taking after sanding, priming and using "textured" spray paint. I didn't sand and prime enough and if you look carefully you can still see the 3D print marks.

I won't be making PLA brackets anymore until get gets too cold again and I won't sell those brackets sanded/primed/painted but if you are interested in a 3D printed ABS bracket as is, please message me.

And those who got the PLA brackets, the offer still stands and if you post a picture of your badly warped PLA bracket, I will send you an ABS one for free (you just pay for shipping).
Looks amazing!

Hey Dirk got the tray today and installed it. Love it, looks great, perfect fit. I don't mind the the 3D printer marks, I think they look cool and I didn't even need to pay extra for texture!

Just after lunch Amazon delivered the charging pad, an excruciating 3 hrs later! ?
USPS delivered the tray!
Very nice bit of kit Dirk! THANK YOU!

I am going to hold off putting in the rails and add them later if I feel I need them.

I think I found my preferred paint for an almost OEM look: Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating

That does look good, I might paint mine. Did you sand it first?

It's actually the one with the textured paint in the previous picture. I sanded it some more and just added a coat of the truck bed stuff.

So the order was sanding with 220 grit, primer, sanding with 400 grit, flat black, some more sanding with 400 grit, truck bed coat. if I get another miss print I will try sanding and truck bed coat only to see how that looks.

I think it's really neat how you've put together something that looks factory (and should have came in the truck...it is 2021 after all). Is there a version of the CarlinKit 2.0 available for Android or a reliable equivalent that you know of? My truck won't be here until May but if there's an option to get this setup in order for my Samsung Galaxy S10, you can take my money for sure.

The only AA wireless product I'm aware of is this campaign on Indigogo. I know that people have received it and reported it working reliably.
Thanks for this. People have used it with Sync3? It says not available until June but I'm going to order one. Would you consider making a fully finished version of your tray like you posted with the bed paint for an appropriate upcharge?

I'm not an Android user, so I can't comment on this but I know that some Audi drivers used it successfully and all wired AA/CP headunits are supposed to support all clients. This is just emulating a wired AA client, so I don't see a reason why there would be any difference between Audi MMI and Ford Sync.

Please message me directly to talk about painted brackets.
