I finally had the time to work on the Qi2 bracket and I think it's looking good. I picked the Anker MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger because it's Qi2 certified, available in black and white and I was able to hide the cable which was not possible with other Qi2 chargers. For now it seems that...
The knock off MagSafe charger did charge my iPhone 12 (62% charged) at 9W today with a 60W USB-C PD power source which was a pleasant surprise. Haven't tried the 14 Pro yet but I may actually change to the black one since it looks nicer than the white one.
The magnets are so strong, I had to add some glue to make it not slide out when removing the phone :) iPhones won't charger with more than 7.5W though, for now at least.
It took a while to get the printer working again but I now have a few brackets ready. Message me if you are interested.
The universal bracket works with both chargers but the Sanmido sticks out a little
There is also a new MagSafe bracket but this one does not work with "Max" iPhones
The old...
I'm in the middle of moving right now, so no printing unfortunately. But there is a MagSafe bracket that I will update as soon as the first qi2 chargers appear on the market.
QI2 is coming, might be next year before we see the first phones (other than iPhones) but it will happen and when it happens there will be bracket for it :)
The only way to avoid the overheating is MagSafe for iPhone 12 and newer (or the upcoming QI2 standard for this years Androids), MagSafe always holds the phone in the best position on the pad and allows charging with 15W without too much overheating, I have done 6+ hour drives with Apple Music...
The car wireless charging pad hasn't changed since the beginning but as all QI based chargers, there are various limitations. If the phone is not perfectly centered, it gets hot. And most phones only charge with 7.5W on QI which is much less than wired charging usually allows. The car wireless...
You can plug in both to the Sync 3 USB ports if the phone is almost fully charged. Once it goes below 90% charged the quick charge feature will kick in and draw too much power from the Sync 3. The Sync 3 is powerful enough to tickle charge the phone and power the AA wireless/CP adapter but it...
Interesting idea, I see a few issues though.
This would only work for normal sized phones, no Max or other XL sized phones bigger than about 6.1/6.2 inches diagonal unless the pad is moved closer to the shifter.
How would you make the bracket for the charging pad stay where it is supposed to...
I played with that idea in the early days but I could never get it to look right. The bracket with charger is at least 10mm thick and if you turn the wireless charger 90 degree, the bracket will stick out about 2 inches closer to the shifter. I never got that to look right and also could not get...
