Huh. Wonder why they went to clips. I’ve only had mine since 9/21 and purchased them directly from WT.
Are yours Part # 9364?
I couldn't tell you the part number now if I had to. I'm sorry. But like you, I did buy directly from WT both times.
As stiff as those deflectors are, I'm pretty sure the clips weren't needed but I put them in anyway because....I just had to. :)

So i had a set of weathertech in channel guards on my Focus ST, and ended up removing them as I didn't like the horrible sound of everything flexing/creaking when I rolled the window up. Do the weathertechs on the ranger make any concerning sounds like that?

Honestly, I was on the fence with getting these for a while but finally decided to and hope I don’t regret it. My only concern is if I ever change my mind and decide to remove them there’s gonna be a big gap between the glass and the seal and I’m going to get some major wind noise. So I feel I’m kind of committed to these now.

On my Supercrew there were no clips. You just bow the front deflector and slide it in. The rear ones come with adhesive tape. They do give you a tool to run between the deflector and window seal to seat the deflector.
Maybe the Scab’s come with clips?

My Supercrew came with clips but I couldn't figure them out so didn't use t hem. No issues without them.

Have been up to 100 mph and they didn't fly out so all is good.

So what's the big advantage of these? I have heard reduced noise when window is down, keep interior cooler (I assume because you can leave the window cracked open). Anything else?
It helps with fog build up inside the cab on rainy days too. I had these on my F150's back east and they came in really handy especially when it's raining out and you want fresh air without getting wet. I have no need here as it barely rains here.

I have been using the AVS deflectors on all of my vehicles or years now. I have always installed them in warmer weather so haven't had any issues with them coming loose.

Mine sound the same as before the install, no unusual sounds.

No rattle with mine. They are tight when you first put them on and the window rubs but that stops pretty quickly.
Thanks for the comment about the rubbing. Just put mine on for the third time in one day attempting to eliminate the rub. So I will give them a chance to settle.

They will settle.
You'll stop noticing it fairly soon, and there should be no window damage at all.
My windows have been tinted and there's no marks or anything on them.
Enjoy!

The in-channel are better, stronger and less likely to rattle or come loose, but I very much prefer the continual look of the exterior stick-ons like AVS.

Mr. Big Face recently broke my rear driver's side window visor when he opened the window on the highway and jammed his giant watermelon head out before there was enough room for it. He pushed the front of the visor off the tape, then the wind caught it and folded it in half. I ordered a set of WeatherTechs to replace the AVL set.
