I have those same tires in 265/65/17 on my 2019 ranger. Hiway doing 70, i avg 24.6. I do have the livernois tuned installed though.
If i keep it at 65, its around 26.4. At 55 it is 28.
Good point. That is in the summer. Cold weather and cheap winter mix fuel robs 2mpg at least for me.

I've often wondered if those MPG numbers were generated by drivers who have a touch of the Hypermiler in them. For those of you who don't know what Hypermilers are, they are those people who obsess over mileage and do all sorts of dangerous things to boost the numbers. If you have 60 psi in every tire, keep your rpms below 2,000 and turn off your engine to coast to the bottom of every hill, you're probably a Hypermiler. And no, I'm not making this up.

Coasted down hill with a friend of mine, but we were out of gas.

On a 480 mile trip with speed limit of 65 MPH I get about 23-23.5 MPG.
I don't for one second believe anyone who says 29 MPG with a 4x4. They must go downhill with a tail wind and call it their average MPG.

Also, have you compared your indicated versus calculated?
I've done 29mpg gas station to gas station 100+ miles on the highway. Cruising at 68mph, no AC.

I have done that repeatedly. That being said, normal driving for me with mixed city and highway is roughly 17-21mpg depending on the ratio. I have never seen 20mpg city as "advertised".

Currently have 2600 miles on mine.

I have 7800 miles on my truck and over the first 7600 miles I averaged 23.6. I installed the AT3 4s in 265/70 200 miles ago and my average is down to 23.2. I was running 32 psi in them initially, which felt low. I‘ve since bumped them to 34 and they ride better and it seems to have stabilized the mileage to some extent, but it’s too soon to tell. Im going to do the chalk test when I can, but 34 feels good for now.

i own a 2021 XL FX4 stock EXCEPT i put on cooper discoverer at-4s tires. same exact size as stock. They do weigh 5lbs more per tire than stock. I have 6500 miles. It seems on a long road trip of 200 miles, the best i can get is 23 mpg. This is going 55-70mph and most of those miles 67 mph. Very little stop and go. I do not use the auto start/stop feature. This same route i'd get 21mpg with my xterra with oversized tires and a tune. it was rated 16/21 mpg. I would see 23mpg with it back with stock tires. My patriot, rated at 22/25mpg saw consistent 26.4 on the same trip. And it had heavier tires- by 2 lbs a tire.

i keep seeing people saying on fakevook that they see 29mpg on highway, fx4. Lots of 27mpgs...... Does the 5lbs per tire really eat up 4mpg?

my oil level does rise- fuel in oil- but it's halfway between the high hash and top dot when cold, right below top dot when hot. I can't see that causing my poor mpgs....

i intentionally went with the coopers for their better winter driving characteristics as i go thru mountains alot. and they seem more rugged as far as sidewalls go.

i would expect though to see that 24 or 25mpg when i nurse it on the flat roads...... thoughts?
I get 23-24 and I am thrilled with that. I don’t baby it at all, but I’m not a hot rodder either. :)

29mpg?! Yea never been close to that. I get 18 city, 21 highway with 6 ply 33’s and leveling kit and Ford Performance tune which I think is great for such a sporty truck. Are you running premium gas? Is it windy where you travel? Those are big factors.

I recently drove from NH to FL. Display showed 25 mpg between fill-ups and hand calculated was actually 24. 23 mpg with heavier tires sounds about right to me.

23 is right around where it should be. I've had short work trips during the week where I eek out 25mpg going 65mph. With City and Highway combined, I average about 21 to 22 per tank

...for comparison. I had a 2017 Tacoma new for about a year and same setup as my ranger (4 door, 4x4) very similar driving and that POS couldn't do better than 19mpg on a tank city and highway driving. I can't believe how much better the Rangers are with power and MPGs

After my break in period my mileage increased, I get a pretty constant 18.5 to 19mpg in town, I went up in tire size (265 18 to 285 16) new slightly lighter wheels so I went up about 6-8 lbs per axle, and only lost. 5 mpg. I go with the flow of traffic so my highway mpg fluctuates from 22 to 23 as long as I don't cruise above 75mph. At least my Ranger gets much closer as advertised vs my 2012 F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost, I got 13-14 mpg in town and 18mpg on the highway as long as I kept the rpm at or below 2000, if I went over 2000 rpm on a trip my mileage dropped noticeable. Best I ever got on the highway was 19mpg with a 40mph tailwind. That was just one of the reasons I traded it for my Ranger. Loved the ride and room.

I do a good mix of city and highway driving and my average is 23-24 in the summer 21-22 in the winter.
Tuned by Unleashed, 93 octane always. Leveled with 1” wheel spacers. I don’t drive it hard.
I did notice a drop in MPG when I leveled and added the wheel spacers.

I have slightly over 3000 miles on my Tremor. I live in south suburban Boston where home lots are typically 1 acre and there is little or no traffic congestion and it is flat. I am getting 22 to 24 mpg on the display on my typical around town driving. It looks like my display is .7 to 1 mph optimistic, I will be adjusting after another tank of gas. I am retired now but still go into work about once per week, my commute is 25 miles one way with 7 traffic lights (in the morning I typically hit 4 or 5 green, in the afternoon 3 or 4). Most of this commute has a speed limit of 45 which I typically am running at 50. On this commute I typically get 24 to 25 mpg on the display. One evening on the way home I decided to do my best hypermiler impression. Once the engine was up to temp I reset trip 2 an drove as though I had an egg between my foot and the gas pedal and got 34.5 mpg for that trip (this is compared to 38 mpg on the two Ecoboost Mustangs I had).

I have only taken one hiway trip that was a total of 300 miles round trip. On the way to Maine I got 27.5 mpg (no traffic or delays going through Boston) on the way back that average dropped to 24.5.mpg but it was all bumper to bumper south of Boston. I seldom do what I would call city driving and have not at all with the Ranger.

The Ranger looks like it is going to be about 5 mpg less than my two Ecoboost Mustangs. Also based on the Mustangs mileage does not peak until you have 6000 to 7000 miles on the odometer so I expect the Ranger to improve a little.

I seem to be averaging 11.5l/100k (~20.5mpg) mixed city & highway, better than expected tbh. For comparison our 2018 Tiguan gets around 10.5l/100k (~22.5mpg) & it's about 1000lbs lighter with 2 less gears. If I'm on the 407 I'll usually set the cruise to 125-130 (77-80) range and the lie-o-meter claims 8-9l/100k (29-26)
