Realistically the best security is to not keep your keys near the front of your house & put them in a faraday cadge. You can even line a drawer with some tin foil and it should dampen the signal enough.
I've seen lots of videos/stills people capture from their security cameras of guys scanning...
Got a little muddy on the Fall Trail Run in Southern Ontario yesterday. Was trying to avoid that mud hole, it was deeper than it looked. Guy's on 35's were having a bit of a time getting out of it.
The Tundra behind me is the owner/CTO of the company I work for. He just got it less than a...
Awesome info, appreciate it thanks! Did you run the cables through that tray or just across the dash? I think I'm going to pop the tray out to see if the wires could be routed neatly through the dash. I haven't decided on an antenna or where/how to mount it yet, definitely not going to be...
I can understand not wanting to write the test if your only use case is while off-roading or convoying. The $35 license seems to strike a nice balance, especially since you guys get more out of GMRS. Up here we're limited to 2W, the antenna cannot be removable, and we're not permitted repeaters...
I shopped around as well & the Ranger with the FX4 came in at a better price with a more well rounded package overall.
The V6 in the Taco's is an older design, it's not as good on fuel. While on paper the power is similar, the 2.3L turbo pulls much harder while being better on gas.
You can get...
As of Sept. 1 this year its now law in Canada to have auto headlights + taillights on with DRL's. The dash must also stay dimmed unless the headlights are on.
Lariat doesn’t have those controls. D-pad controls the screen & the buttons control phone & audio.
Pretty dumb they don’t have an alternative control. I suppose they expect you to use voice control, which I’ll admit I’ve never tried. The mute button is redundant since you can press the volume...
If you can't fix it with duct tape, you're not using enough duct tape!
Engineering Explained has a couple of good videos talking about the final efficiency of EV's, hybrids, ICE, etc, taking into account the refinement or collection of energy, storage, and transportation or delivery methods...
Haven't read through all 10 pages. Overall the interior isn't the worst but its sub-optimal, hopefully they improve it on the next gen. If they go all touch screen & captive buttons it will be a hard pass for me. Can't stand how manufactures think that digital touch is appropriate in a vehicle...
I haven't looked at the unit, but had looked & searched previously to see if it was possible to swap the sim (unfortunately it's not). I found these 2 threads that should help you:
Picture of TCU PCB: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/onboard-modem.4098/

Yes & it's very counter intuitive. Our VW shuts off when put into park, which makes sense. If you don't shift out of park within 15 min or get out of the car (auto locks) it simply shuts off. Wish the Ranger would behave this way.
Electric is the future, it's coming one way or another. Having a manufacture's performance division back it with a ready to order crate motor is the next logical step towards adoption. Drop this into say a 5th gen Civic or Mini Cooper and you'd have a little rocket ship!
I recall hearing there...
I seem to be averaging 11.5l/100k (~20.5mpg) mixed city & highway, better than expected tbh. For comparison our 2018 Tiguan gets around 10.5l/100k (~22.5mpg) & it's about 1000lbs lighter with 2 less gears. If I'm on the 407 I'll usually set the cruise to 125-130 (77-80) range and the lie-o-meter...
Saw one in the same colour when I dropped my Ranger off to get the tailgate reprinted yesterday. Was gonna snap a pic but it started pouring. They’re neat little trucks, better than the million crossovers out there. I’m sure they’ll sell a boat load now, just a shame that the hybrid is only...
I'll usually leave it in sport mode while in town & flip into D once I'm at highway speeds.
I would have loved flappy paddle shifters, but they'd need to activate manual mode and not just progressive shift. At least they could have done what most manufactures do is have the shifter move to the...
A BOV vents to atmosphere, basically releases the pressure out of the charge pipes back to the outside air.
A DV is a diverter valve, it recirculates released pressure back into the low pressure (before turbo) of the intake.
Recirculating back to the intake can reduce lag between shifts & when...
