I found myself using my 17 Forester more as a truck, for work so i decided to get a Ranger i didn't even look at anything else other than the F-150s. I few co-workers have the F-150s and I've seem them trying to park them downtown and decided i didn't need that in my life so I test drove the ranger and the rest is history. Its the perfect size for my needs.

Back in 2003 I bought a traded in 2000 tundra. I found out I really like driving a truck. Fast forward 17 years, that truck being so trouble free allowed me to save some serious money.
But I felt it was getting time to get something new. The Tacoma was completely out. Even the techs hate them. Toyota is lacking in quality control as of lately. Anyways, thanks to YouTube, and discovering this forum I got the new truck 'bug'.
I knew exactly what I wanted and found it just 50 miles away thanks to the internet and having patience.
So, there's my maggie in my avatar. Ford built it with pride.

I've been keeping my eyes open on the mid size market. For me,there was only 3 to choose from,ranger/colorado/gladiator. First I drove the JT,and it didn't impress me in a positive way. Had I gone with that,it would have been my 4th new jeep,so I'm not a stranger to them.

Next, and the one I was most interested in,was a diesel colorado. All they had was a diesel ZR2 so I took that out for a drive. I LOVED the 2.8 diesel, hated everything else about it.And I will add,the ZR2 had the optional leather pkg and that drivers seat was extremely uncomfortable for me,so on too the ranger...

My wife and I went to the local Ford dealers, much as my better half kept on saying,"I hate fords". As for me,I'm not brand loyal, and haven't been since the 70's,so I'm open to ford/ram/and jeep. No toyotas until hell freezes over.Frontier? Nah,since they don't care about that segment of the market and just keep the ancient frontier virtually unchanged for what,10 years? If they don't care, why would I give them my money? Doesn't make sense to me.

So we hit the Ford lot and met with a salesman, and told him what we were interested in.Off we went to the ranger part of the lot.I must say they had a damn good selection of trim levels and of course prices and colors. My wife and I really liked one particular Lariat so we took it out for a drive. Then my wife drove it,then we bought it.

We did the price haggle dance, and since I'm on the Ford Xplan,I signed the papers and we drove it home. In fact,my wife has logged more miles behind the wheel then I have, lol. And she said she hated fords, lmao!!!

The Ranger was the only choice after four Tacomas the last being a 2016 that had issues. Ford was the ONLY other truck I would buy. looking forward to the redesigned Ranger and Tacoma.

Again The best truck will get my buck!!

Mine is on order and I will have it in April. My reasons for ordering a Ranger:
  1. It towed my 4000 lb boat effortlessly. This was my number one requirement and it far exceeded my expectations.

  2. Love the styling and dimensions. There will be much more room between the rear bumper and my garage door as compared to my 2002 GMC Sierra.

  3. Ford did not take a government bailout during the great recession which earned my loyalty.

I saw my local dealer got a Ranger in. I wanted to wait for a Lariat, but my POS 2014 Ford Focus hatchback had one too many trips to the service department because of the DPS6. (Great car that was hamstrung by the crappiest of transmissions).

After almost stranding me in a rainstorm on a Friday, I drove it down to the dealer on Saturday to see what they would give me for it. A little bit of X-plan and a $4k trade-in later, I drove home with the only pickup I considered. I didn’t like the Chevy style or interior, the Taco was a bit too old and a bit of a belly button around here (everyone has one) and the Frontier was just ancient.

I'm a Ranger homer. In my mere 21 years of driving i've had an 88, 94, and my 07 for the last 12 years. I've had to replace an alternator and emergency brake out side of brakes, and oil. Still has the original headlights and fogs.
Hasn't given me a good reason to look elsewhere.

I kept buying Ram 1500's because we plan to buy a camper eventually. Life kept getting in the way and I felt silly wasting so much money on big V8s with 4wd when I didn't need them. Traded my Ram for a 2019 Tacoma 4 cylinder crew cab so I could be cheap (1 income, 2 car payments, new house, my daughter starts driving soon and will need a car then she'll go off to college) and quickly realized it just wasn't for me. The Ranger does everything I need without me feeling like I wasted money on stuff I don't need. The best part is if I ever get a camper it'll tow it, not planning on getting anything too big anyways.

Ever since getting a house a few years ago, I wanted a pickup to haul things and be able to go places you just can't do with a car like up to the mountains to ski. I’d always been a fan of the Ranger and was bummed they were discontinued in 2011. Being a Ford guy, I had been considering a used F150, but felt like it was bigger than what I needed. In addition, the gas mileage and what it costs to fill a tank were more than what I wanted to pay on a regular basis, and it would be difficult to park downtown where I work. When it was announced that the Ranger was coming back and was actually a good looking truck, I decided I’d wait until the reviews came out to see if it’d be what I’d been waiting for.

After watching countless comparison videos, reading the reviews, and joining this forum, I took one for a test drive back in July and was thoroughly impressed and was basically sold on getting one from that point forward. From there I began looking for the right truck and dealer incentives. That finally came along in October when I went up to Oregon to get it and drove 8 hours back and still have the smile on my face. I've since put about 3,300 miles on it and added some aftermarket goodies to it that make me grin every time I see it. This is the first brand new vehicle I've ever bought and definitely my favorite that I've ever owned (which is saying something since I had a '67 Mustang in high school) and I'm looking forward to finally being able to go off-roading and seeing the beautiful back country nature you just can't experience with a car.

Primarily because I am a dyed in the wool Ford man, I grew up with and learned how to wrench on cars with Ford's.
I did test drive a '19 Taco 4x4 "Limited" and found out that it lives up to its name, mainly the woefully underpowered 3.5 and a seating position that makes you wonder if there any seats at all. I cannot fathom at all why it is the best selling vehicle in Hawaii.
I absolutely, positively abhor all FCA and GM products, the latest generation Ridgeline, while a very competent vehicle I've been told (my younger brother owns a 2019 RTL-E), well its styling is just not for me. Consider also, sibling rivalry if you will.
The 2020 S/Cab I expect to take delivery of on 1/15 will be my 5th. Ford pickup, I well expect it to be as dependable as it's predecessors.

I was in the market because of end of lease on my Canyon. Market was limited due to the fact that we wanted to stay midsize....I had more full size than mid size trucks in the past and we determined mid size was what wanted to stay with. I've had lots of vehicles, more than 45 and I am not brand specific...I would have most likely stayed with the canyon had they had any decent incentives but they didn't. The truck was fine but it I never was overly fond of the looks but otherwise it was good....

The incentives got me looking at the Ranger, but the truck itself made the sale. It is by far the best looking mid size out there... and I am mr unbiased when it comes to Ford but there is no doubt this truck is a looker. I also liked the incentives and the drive train though its missing a couple things it should have...

I can say after a tank and a half of gas in my Ranger I am going to enjoy the truck...It its smoother, more quiet, has all the power the canyon has and gets at lease 2.5 miles per gallon better mileage and that is comparing a truck with 15 miles verses a well broken in truck mileages with the same driver and track... I even purchased this one as opposed to lease cause I am about done with buying trucks so this one has to be good.

To me Ram still has the best looking and best riding truck with fabulous electronics and interior and if it was full size I was looking for that would be what I would have purchased.

The lack of cooled seats, AWD and even the lack of screens to view engine functions is bad though because other than the cooled seats all the other is in the truck already....or very inexpensive to add with programming. A few other things too but I won't pile on...I still like the truck. so far.

My husband and I had a pair of Mazda 3's. In May, we traded one in for a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE. After outfitting it to haul bikes and kayaks over the summer and fighting over who gets to drive the Benz, we started looking to replace the other Mazda.

Looked at convertibles, luxury sedans, and decided we wanted the utility and height of a pickup and outfit it to haul our toys. Living in Chicago with small parking spaces and tight side streets, we only considered midsize pickups. Husband's family is strictly a Ford pickup family; I was more impartial and seriously considered the Colorado ZR2. I test drove both the Colorado and Ranger.

Ultimately, we found more value in a fully-optioned Ranger vs a fully-optioned Colorado with all of the Ranger's driving assit, safety features, trail mode, etc. Plus, the Ranger Lariat FX4 was much quieter than the Colorado ZR2, abd the seats and interior were much more refined - didn't find much of an upgrade with the Canyon and we were spoiled by the Benz. The final straw - I couldn't get over the uncomfortable seats and lack of a push start in the Colorado.

Very happy we chose the Ranger.

I looked at Tacoma, Colorado ZR1 and Ranger XLT .
I am not brand loyal.
The Tacoma was not even a consideration after I sat in one .
I liked the Colorado a lot but the local dealers had low incentives and not many in stock to choose from.
The 302A seats helped sell me on the Ranger. A very nice option for the XLT .
I guess front seat comfort and incentives made me choose a Ranger . Very happy with it so far.
