So you aren’t a grey man??
Well sort of. Yea the truck sticks out like an over-lander fetish, but it has plenty of hidden secrets that have nothing to do with the outdoors. lol If anything its fine by my if someone wants to assume some yupped up hippie drives it.

On a side note did you know that soft panel body armor has very good sound dampening properties? Imagine my surprise when boxes full of "expired" panels were being thrown away one day...

I am often a connoisseur of re-purposing items with unintended purposes. *cough*

That looks awesome. How do you like that topper
Seems pretty nice. Ordered a light kit for it. All metal?. It’s been so cold here I haven’t done anything outside since I got it.

second lowest priced wedge camper on the market is NOT a premium product. Alu-cab on the other hand at twice the price is twice as nice and has customer service. reference post #39
So do you own an Alu-Cab?
See that is one of my problems, my question to the other person was not about you, but rather why he assumed other parties did not "leave payment". But in your head, the world revolves around you so you thought to post this. We get it, you want the world to know who you are from using your real name plastered on everything to having a URL registered for your own name with the self proclaimed title "Outside's most controversial journalist" with lots of badass instagram level selfies and action shots.

We are all narcissistic in some ways, but good grief.
No offense, but you obviously don’t read your own post. Your build is cool and you are tactical, but you can’t say he has a big head when you post what you post.

Just getting caught up here, this thread devolved from the 2nd or 3rd comment.

Good work everyone, gotta be some sort of a record.
I think you’re right - gotta be a record.

I have nothing against the idea of the GFC or the company but their design team could use some inspiration.

Or maybe it’s as simple as trading this…

for this…

Again you continue to show how petty you really are.

You are correct in that Wes drove an Outback at a point in his life and wrote about that it in relation to his life style at the time. As his life and career has evolved he now lives in MT instead of LA, he picked a truck that he felt meets his current needs and thankfully it’s a truck we all enjoy.

Now we all get to benefit from testing he does on products some of us might have an interest in but might be hesitant to pull the trigger based on the cost. I for one was glad I didn’t buy the goose gear rear seat delete based on his article and up going the DIY route for my pup.

Since you like to base your opinions on image (IE: calling Wes a hipster for have long hair at a point in life), let’s judge based on your trucks..

hmmmm yeah I’m not taking the opinion of the person that murders out their windows..
ummmm dont look at my truck my tint is all illegal lmao
Probably not for the best, and not directed at me but... for the record my window tint is illegal at 5% all around. I do so because the nature of my job, and while I cannot prevent it 100%, I'd rather not be identified easily in my POV. My truck already sticks out like a sore thumb as is.

Also for the record window tint laws are dumb as shit and I personally don't enforce them as that is my discretionary decision not to do so. The courts have already ruled your vehicle is an extension of your home and these laws amount to nothing more than saying "well its illegal to put window blinds up in your house".

also on the topic of campers yes ive heard some issues with gfc from others but majority are very happy with it and have had no issues so ill say this dont let one persons bad review sway your opinion most are very happy with it the alucab is a great setup but to me its ugly as all hell but again thats me... a buddy of mine has it and loves it and it is very nice but it depends on your pockets and needs

i plan to either build my own gfc style or buy one from gfc since to me besides vagabond its the better of the campers but again thats my opinion

How about me, what topper should I get?
Please don't let this thread die now.
that depends on your needs and what you will be doing...

if you plan to stay on road and go to some camp sites and very light offroad then well any shell would be fine but if you chose fiberglass get one with the aluminum honeycomb mesh inside it so its stronger for abuse.

if you plan to only stay on road and just do driving around and want dry storage just get a standard fiberglass or metal constructor shell

for camping shells thats up to you and your budget and what you personally like if you like gfc for the more utilitarian look go for that if you like the vagabond for a more sealed version of a gfc do that and if you like a more idk outlandish looking one get the alucab

at the end of the day it all depends on your needs and budget
