My apologies if this is a dumb question, but: I've got a 23 FX4 with no suspension mods and stock tires (265/60/18). Im looking at picking up some new wheels and just reuse the OEM tires. I really like these Enkei "Truck Cyclones":

https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whe...anger+4X2&autoYear=2023&autoModClar=265/60-18

They are a 0mm offset, and the Tire Rack website says that I'd have to have a lift kit or fender mods for proper clearance. HOWEVER, I talked to a local off-road parts dealer yesterday, and he said that a 0 or -1 offset would fit on my truck without a lift.

Who is right?

with the same size tire, I see no reason they won't work. It will move the tires out aprox 2" per side from stock.

With the 0 offset wheel, it'll push the wheel/tire out farther. I had to put a 2.5" leveling kit on the front of mine to clear 285s, with a 0 offset wheel, but they still slightly rub at full lock. I also can't use the stock crash bars anymore, so think about that too.

I know you have 265s, but stock wheels are also +55 offset, meaning they are pushed inward, closer to suspension... They'll "fit", but you might have some rubbing problems.

Stock tires should be fine with 0 offset. I wouldn't go past 0 and into negative offset territory though and you might not be able to fit bigger tires later on.

Tire Rack is more accurate than that local parts dealer.

The local shop is only partially right - they’ll “fit” without a lift but that doesn’t mean they won’t cause problems when at full steering lock, especially when your suspension is compressed.

As others have said, a lower offset will push your wheels out and that’s all well and good until you turn your wheels. Rangers have front and rear crash bars that need to be considered.

Think of it this way, turn your wheels all the way left, the hub is now at an angle, now imagine moving that wheel further out with 0mm offset, and you’re pushing your tire closer toward the crash bars.

The picture below tells the story - the horizontal bars represent the crash bars, the shaded tire represents the new tire position with a low offset wheel. The shaded area is now making contact with the crash bar. :(

I’m not saying you’ll definitely rub on those bars, but it’s a real possibility. Hopefully someone on the forum who has tried 0mm offset without a lift and OEM tires will chime in.

Good luck getting things set up.

Wider wheel and much more offset… you will rub on the crash bars at minimum.

Thanks for the info, everyone! So it looks like I should back off on the "aggressiveness" of my offset. From what I've seen on this forum, the stock offset is +55. I would like maybe a little bit more aggressive "poke" (as I've seen it called) without taking a sawzall to it. Does anyone have a pretty good guesstimate on the most aggressive (read: lowest) offset I can go without rubbing the crash bars?

Edit:
I'm on both the Tire Rack and the American Trucks website right now, and I can sort by the offset:

Folks have avoided issues by staying in the +25mm to +30mm area. This will bring things a little closer to being flush with the wheel well and hopefully, avoid issues.

It’s a bit tough to really pin down a safe offset number because a lot of members have done wheels, bigger tires, and a level all at once.

So, I know that the 0mm offset wheels will push the face of the wheel outwards about 2", just trying to get an idea of want to know what they'll look like actually on the truck. Does anyone have a picture of the stock tire size with this offset?

The 0 offset with stock tires worked fine. Had to trim some plastic, but it worked! I think it looks great!

I'll show this to a friend if he'll like the stance. He's considering the zero offset on stock tires setup as well for his new DD 2020 Ranger. His Raptor will get 35" tires, new fender flares, and headache rack with light bars.
