6% just doesn't make sense for someone with a legit 830 FICO.

I mean good lord, I got 4% from Ally bank on a 2018 Volt with mid 700's score.

New cars dont go for 6% someone in the finance office knows what they are doing to make money.
Like I said, they're luring people in at high interest rates on their "standard" financing in order to give a huge discount on top of all the other stuff they're already offering. If you can do it the way I did it, you're in great shape. If you have to "make payments" then you're going to be giving that savings right back to them.

I have two other cars, 40k at 0.89% and 150k at 2.4%. This is a different gig.

I can attest to everything westr is saying. I’m a 771 credit score. Solid career/employer. The only thing I have been running into is some dealers are withholding rebates and “selectively” giving them and/or inflating prices of trucks then giving massive discounts but still pocketing massive profits. (Eg a dealer has one truck I want listed at 23,6 but the OTD is 27k. Another dealer has same exact truck (verified by window sticker) listed at 25,1 but they want to sell it to me 27,2 OTD... hmmm. If Ford wants my business they better start being open and honest before the new Colorado comes out with 2.7 and 10 speed.

I've found sister dealers owned by the same group to have different prices listed on their websites, for the same vehicle because they listed the ford incentives/rebates differently. Its all a numbers and emotions game and the dealerships hope to confuse the consumer in order to maximize profits. with a "perceived good deal" I've also found that the "dealer discount" usually factors in incentives and rebates as well.

Yeah, they wanted me to pay $37,000 for a new 2019 XLT with towing and FX4..... the Truck was a loaner car for customers with 4000+ miles.

Some of these dealers need to get their heads checked, would not even discount it based on the fact it was USED!

Told em id do 30k with 0% and that is fair based on values I have researched. Said dont contact me again unless you are willing to be honest about the value of the truck.

Its like you mention 0% and they get all stingy as hell suddenly. Its like pulling teeth to get one to actually negotiate with you, im not paying your internet price, NOT IN THIS ECONOMY!

Got my first Ranger this week. Unreal deal. 2020 XL 4x4 Supercab $30,835 MSRP, got it for $22,900.

Plenty of room for some mods!
What dealer? I gĂąess you found it on the dealer's lot?

Im having an awful time with dealers. They are wanting sticker minus rebates...... then say, oh that internet price is if you're a doctor + first responder + military + royal bloodline to the throne.....

If you demand 0% they barely budge off the sticker, managed a $1700 discount on a $37k truck. But they undervalued my trade at least $2000.

All this for a truck thats been on a lot for 244 days, and is a 2019.

I told the sales man its a two way road, you want me to buy, you MUST give a half decent trade value. I swear, its like they dont understand the current situation in the world. I hope they see partial ruin for these BS games.

This other dealer in GA needs to get their eyes and head checked, trying to make me pay full price for a f*cking 2019 loaner with 4000 miles on it.

My precious little local dealer sent me a quote for a 30k BASE XL ranger 4x4 crew cab and genuinely wanted me to pay full sticker for the 0%. Its like, are we even on the same planet????

I dont know where they get off acting like this. Im probably just going to keep my GTI and enjoy all the money I sank into it ($5000).

Have always heard car deals were shit in the South East, maybe thats true.

Purchased a used (4063 miles) 2019 Ranger XLT Crew Cab yesterday. Magnetic/Ebony with the 302A equipment group, black appearance package, 18" wheels, tow package, Nav, ACC, running boards, and spray-in bed liner...perfect condition... Was this a good buy or should I have waited?

I’ve been having a hard time also. I’m just going to sit back and see what happens in the Summer. Funny thing is Ford Corporate sent me a survey about my last 2 shopping experiences. I told them everything... let’s see if I get that phone call...

Not too bad I think 25-27k would have been my price point.

Guys, as I posted last week after negotiating with various Ford dealers for a month:
  • Dealers are being swamped by people who think Ford is desperate to sell vehicles... The sales people aren't feeling any pressure to discount yet as a result. In fact, they are annoyed with 23yr olds coming in with 450 credit scores wanting 0% interest and 10k off MSRP with no verifiable income....who are looking to buy a mustang..... that's your disconnect. Maybe that will change in June when car sales plummet, but not now.
  • Ford corporate is offering 0% financing but dealers hate it, if you want a dealer to give you max discounts off purchase price and you have excellent credit, sign a loan from them for 3% interest and immediately refinance to lower rate via your own bank or pay the loan off as fast as you can so interest expenses are minimal. Believe me, having a much lower initial balance pays off more in the long run than having perfect interest rate. There is no benefit to paying 0% rate early. Run the numbers yourself.
  • Don't accept anything less than 8k off the ranger lariat trim, and if you are really lucky or dealer is desparate on a vehicle that has been sitting on the lot for a year - you might get 9-10k off.

To get this you have to do all the Ford deals, including financing the minimum 7500 at their "standard/regular" interest rates. For me at 830 FICO, that was 6% (criminal), but I'm just paying it off in the first payment to avoid that interest. The saving for that program was substantial (don't remember the exact amount), and you can't do the 0% deal.
Hate to tell you.... the ford rate for 830 credit is 3%, not 6%. I have to assume the finance guy lied to you or there is something else unuque to your situation.

Most banks are offering 2.5-2.7% on auto loans to customers with good credit. We might see as low as 1.99% eventually, but the banks are being extra careful about loan quality now.

Some of what you stated is true however some dealerships have a different pricing method and that’s where things get complicated. Some will bend the rules and give you everything with your own financing and some will “ lower” prices. Then they add a bunch of fees on it. See my previous post about that. I was in the market because I wanted to be and not had to be. I’m in my fallback mode till Summer now.

I know of a few credit unions that are offering 1.9 since earlier this month.
