  • Heated mirrors and rear defrost should be standard equipment on all trims.
  • Big 10-4 on the heater controls!
  • Many of the other features mentioned would tip the MSRP on the wrong side of $50,000, if it came with everything.
  • Ventilated seats would be nice. I have a fan cooled seat cushion that I used in my semi for probably over 10,000 hours similar to this one and it still works great in my Ranger- eliminates the "post-it note" effect in warm weather
  • Move the drive functions
    2021 RANGER OWNERS MANUAL.pdf copy.webp
    to the dashboard.
  • Move the mirror controls to the driver's door- can't see them behind the steering wheel/ turn signal stalk
  • Same with the cargo light switch- also needs a simple pilot light or an icon in the instrument cluster, not the over-techy auto shutoff at 3mph/light goes out after ~15 min. I'll figure out when I don't need the light on, thanks.
  • Power rear window c'mon Ford, it's the '90s.
  • No drivers' side grab handle is a Ford thing- my Mariner has only a passenger side one.
  • Light the gear selector again. Can't Ford find room in the budget for a six inch pigtail from the 4wd light socket to the gear selector? Colorado and Canyon do, and look at GM's stock. They could use the money saved from eliminating the "Auto Cargo Light: Off" to fund it. Zero sum, win-win.

I agree. If you are wearing sunglasses for driving, which I usually do, it is all but impossible to find the manual climate controls--and dangerous to be fooling with the ones on the screen!
Marc I know you can use the voice activation for the climate controls. I tried it several times and couldn't get it to work. I guess it doesn't like my voice. ?

A manual transmission!!! This is a midsize truck and only Tacoma still offers a manual, and does so on their top trim level. Give us a manual transmission Ford!!!!

I don't think voice controls will work if you have a smartphone connected as it will invoke Siri or Google Assistant.

You're right it will default to the phones assistant. I never connect my phone unless we're going on a trip so that wasn't the issue for me. I haven't done any updates since buying mine so that could be the cause there. I've seen the problems most have had trying to update theirs and for me it's not worth the hassle. I just use my Apple Maps when I need to find a newer location.

I do agree on the visibility issue. Problem I have with going back to large analog dials and knobs from the 80s is you just lost the Auto function of the climate control. I know some of you don't like it, but I think it is the best part. I set the temp and forget it. If it's cold it warms the truck up, if it's hot it cools the truck down. Even turn my heated seats and defrosters on when I remote start in the winter. The few times I need to adjust anything I find the touch screen easier and no more distracting than having to use the manual controls. Each to their own.

Heated mirrors.
Air conditioned seats.
A/C or heat comes on with remote start.
Where I live we get both extremes.

Only big items I miss is full power seats with memory and ability to open and close windows with remote. With me being 5'-11" and my wife 5'-0" having the seats and mirrors adjust based on whos fob unlocks the truck is really nice. Being able to lower the windows as you walk to the truck is also nice on warm days. Also being able to close them remotely if they are left open with the fob or Fordpass would be handy for those freak rain storms.

Most of the rest of the items mentioned are nice to have or ergonomic issues. The ergonomic one maybe taken care of with the 6G. The rest maybe part of a deluxe package but not standard. If you want to drive your cost up to 50K+ your choice.

And please, no sun/moon roof, or at least, make it an option, not part of a package. I am six-foot three inches tall, and roof height is really, really important to me in a vehicle! I can fit in the current Ranger and even wear a cap or beanie without touching the roof, but let's leave well-enough alone!
I would love a sunroof in the Ranger. I'm 6'4" and have had them, or T-Tops on all my vehicles, up until this one. Only one of those did I have any headroom issues. That was a '95 Mitsu Eclipse GSX. I really should have paid closer attention during the test-drive, but I was just so immersed in the audio system, that I lost all other senses. I have so much headroom in the Ranger that I have no doubt a sunroof would not be an issue.

Jon you can set the ac/heat to come on with the remote start. Just go into the settings from the steering wheel and hit:

vehicle, remote start, climate control and last setting.

Now when you remote start it will go on. This is a must here with our heat and I've been doing this since I bought mine and it works great.

I wish I'd never updated mine.

Is there a repository of older versions I can access?

Thanks but that’s how mine is set and it seems to only blow outside air out the defroster until I put the key in. I am a lowly STX owner without the climate control so maybe mine is different.

I'm not positive but I don't think there is. I just saw a lot having issues with their updates and figured I'd leave well enough alone. My main concern is the navigation because most of my customers are in newer homes but the Apple Maps takes care of that. I do have a slight delay when going through some prompts but I can live with that. I'm really looking forward to using Sync4 in the Bronco. From all the videos I've watched it looks like it's a lot better and I like the wireless connectivity for your phone.
