I got an estimate to have a tree removed from my back yard (and its at the top my "todo" list) and it was about $2200 which wasn't bad. They were the only ones that had a lift skinny enough to get through my gate, and they had really good reviews. Not sure what kind of tree it is, but I have to walk the yard before I mow EVERY DAMN TIME to pick up branches, and it's never just one or two, always a truck full. Plus, last June we got a real bad storm and that was the first time in the 20+ years in the house I was scared the tree would fall over on mine or one of the neighbors house. I decide right then it needed to come down at some point.
Peace of mind for money well spent

It's either pay now as a preventative or pay more later when it crashed through your house. lol

When I built my first house I had a lot of huge oaks and maple trees which I cleared myself but I didn't clear enough. I had to drop several after the house was built and I almost took out the front porch with one but luckily it only did some minor damage to the rails which was easily fixed. My second house I hired a company who came in with all the machines and clear cut everything around. He had a Timbco which would cut and carry the tree to the conveyor which then limbed and chipped it into the truck. Money well spent!

Those machines are pretty badass!
And expensive! IIRC back then (2007) it was around $100K now he has a whole fleet of them along with loaders. processors, dump trucks and 18 wheelers. I met the guy that did it (John) on a job site and he had me clear coat the outside of his log cabin. He was living in the basement with a wood stove lol and was building it as he had the money to pay cash. Every stitch of wood used inside and out was from trees he had cut down and had milled. I watched him build his business from a couple guys and a few trucks to a huge company that works for the state clearing trees along the state highways/roads, still clears lots, and now has a large wood processing yard that has mountains of mulch and obviously firewood. You always see his 18 wheelers delivering wood chips to the power plants near Boston which he has a contract for. Nothing goes to waste with them. I'd guess he has 2-3 million just in equipment now. Not a bad business for someone who started off living in the basement. lol

That's the driveway going into their lot. He renovated an old house and turned it into their offices.

First fly fishing trip since my GBS last year. Bit of a slow day and nothing to write home about but I wasn't skunked!! 😂 Our water is really low this year with mild winter and lack of snow pack. Still beautiful in the woods! Plus 28.8 mpg round trip!😎 Was at 30 mpg coming down the river road before we hit the interstate to come home. These trucks are so cool!!😁

Feller/buncher if I remember right. At least that's what they call them up here. Those things are amazing and go pretty off camber when needed.

You're right it's called a Feller Buncher, Timbco is the name brand.

They are fun to watch especially on sloped lots. The whole process is amazing and they never touched a single tree by hand as the machines do all the work. If you're a good operator you can work around some pretty tight areas. Check this one out where this guy is cutting trees by some high tension wires.

I took a sustainable forestry class for teachers years ago and we traveled all over north Idaho and went to an active logging site to see all the machines in action. Enthralling watching those plus skidders, processors and loaders. Of course grown men are just big little boys and I was in heaven seeing all of this! 😂 We got to chat with the operators at lunch and ask questions about the machines. So cool! My dad was a millwright locally and I worked a couple summers in the sawmills where he worked when I was in college. Even those old jobs I did back in the 80s are all mechanized now in the mills.

On the way to go visit with Dad and Uncle Jim this morning, I stopped by the car wash and spent about $10 giving the truck a much needed bath.

Drove around town trying to find a brake shop that would install my Powerstop Brake Kit. First 3 said no because they couldn’t warranty the parts. Well, no kidding I didn’t buy them there! Idiots who apparently don’t like easy money.

Fourth shop didn’t blink an eye and scheduled me for next Wednesday. 👍

That's always nice, and a good feeling when you find a good shop that will work with you. My 2 cents.

My mechanic shop is pretty good about that. I didn't feel like wrestling with putting the Timbren bump stops on and they didn't hesitate for a moment. Of course I have been a customer since 2016, bought three vehicles through them and referred many other customers to them. I get shops being wary of flakes but easy money is easy money!!

Went up to Tucson and had lunch, made a Costco run and picked up these 2 nightstands. These are the last pieces we needed for our spare bedroom and they match the other furniture almost perfect. She found them on Marketplace and they're in really good condition and made of real wood, dovetailed draws and has cedar bottom draws for $160/pair. 🇵🇱

They just barely fit laying down with the tailgate closed and a packing mat against them. :whew: Now that that room's completed I'm sure she'll find something else we need in another room.💸💸

Those look great and at $160, wow, what a deal. They were on Marketplace? They look new! Good score.

Mel,

I don’t fish and know nothing about it really, but you don’t need to know fishing to see that the built-in tape in your net is absolutely brilliant. 🤯👍
