Trust me I know I was self employed for 36 years and private insurance is wicked expensive, especially now. She just started Medicare on June 1 as it was much better than her work insurance and cheaper too. I learned a lot by seeing what she had to do and go through and it was a little confusing because you're dealing with the SS office, Medicare and the insurance company. It should go smoothly now that it's all set up.Six more months till 65 can not wait to get the Medicare for $200 per month. Wife has had it for last couple years and way better then the private insurance I pay and arm and leg for.
She's not taking SS now and is going to work another 2 years but I'm trying to talk her into retiring next year but really wish she'd just retire now. She still likes her job (most days) and since she works from home now it's so much nicer not having to commute in all that traffic.
