Damn! There used to be a nice diagram that showed the locations of our axle breathers but I can't find it. They are better than a not awful but they could be a little higher.

Gotta be a ROTW diesel ranger...

Our alternator on the 2.3 is on the other side and way lower, different setups
Yes it is of course, it is, it's mine. But don't see why the NA version couldn't install similar breather extensions. - If they wanted to. The 2.0 diesel is a different design to the 3.2 and has the alternator located in a similar position to your Ecoboost models. This has caused a few to die, and attracted quite a bit of criticism as ford did not lower the wading depth from 800mm for the 2.0 model.

i cant remember where they are but they are sufficient for most of us. I bought the arb breather kit and took it to my mechanic. he called me back and said save my money and send the parts back. the factory ones are high enough that water would be in the cab ahead of in the tubes. i like splashing in puddles and crossing the rivers but water in the cab is a no no for me lol.

not sure if its true but i used to hear folks say if you were worried about water in the diffs just stop for about 15 mins and let the stuff cool down. something about the temp of water vs. air temp and diff temp. so if the diffs are cooler less likely for water to get in. I could be totally wrong.

This may irk you too...

I wouldn't be surprised if this was manufactured in the same factory that manufactures the $85 ARB kit!

i almost bought that one and went for the ARB based on the brands reputation. however, i do think they are the same part made in the same place lol. one reason i skipped them is the size of the tubing is different than the stock ford parts. so it would have required changing all the tubing and fittings etc. which just is not worth it when the factory ones are high enough. I think the front one is lower, and its still above the line of the lower door seal.

I think if I were able to get the long distance overlanding trip together I've always wanted to do, the ARB/knock-off breather kit would be on my list of tasks to do to help "harden" my truck. But I think I'm good with how it's put together now!

There is some truth in this, particularly for diffs that have breather valves. Hitting cold water with a hot diff can cause the air inside to suddenly drop in temperature, this pulls the breather valve shut and causes a partial vacuum. Since seals are designed to keep oil in, not out, the partial vacuum can literally pull water past the pinion bearing seal, into the diff.

Unless your doing some deep water I'd say it's fine. Up to tire deep

what would the cost be to buy the Aussie mount & relocate the alternator ?
I think that would be a better solution for a die hard off roader.
