Ford really missed the boat on the FX suspension. Totally botched it. I have really happy with the Bilsteins but if I were to do it again I think I would go straight to the fox 2.0s in the front and rear.
Might be apples and oranges, but in 2002 I got a new Ranger with the Off-Road Package and it rode like a cement mixer. That truck was followed by two Sport Tracs. When I went looking for a new Ranger this time I didn't want any parts of any off-road package.

True story: I got the '02 because three months before the lease was up my '99 was T-boned in the driver's side by someone who ran a stop sign. Truck suffered worse than I did but I had a golf ball sized lump on the left side of my head where it hit the window frame. Couple weeks later in the new truck I hit a ripple in a brick street and it rocked so hard that my head hit the window frame in the same (still tender) spot and my vision went white for a few seconds. I had the presence of mind to hit the brakes since I couldn't see. You know how cartoon characters get hit in the head and see stars and birds flying around? It was like that.

If we take the OP's two videos and apply that "all FX4 shocks suck", then rightfully so, we must take Sid's trans failure and apply that all 10R80's suck too, and add in my Eng fail as all 2.3 ecoboosts suck.

But we are not fools. At least most of us aren't.

The FX shocks fail, just like I am sure there's Bilstein's that fail. That's the joy of mechanical things that cycle.

best thing about shocks is there are options If you don't like what you have. Just like tires. The factory supplied options, might check the boxes for driver A, but not driver B.
Too bad the same isn't true with the 10R80. I would swap that beast out in a heart beat if there were other options.

I only replaced the rears with Eibach on my FX4. The fronts are a bit soft but I can live with them.

Yeah with working at different dealerships under different manufacturers I can tell you I have not seen shocks regularly fail like this in such a short time. Why is it happening you ask? My guess is eith poor craftsmanship or shitty materials.

This! There's been WAY more people who've had issues with the Fx4 shocks than with the 10R80 transmission. These shocks are absolute junk and IMHO shouldn't even be offered. Most don't realize the difference until they change their out and I've yet to see one person regret this change.

Same goes for the transmission. Everyone who's tuned their (no matter which tune they have) has had nothing but good things to say about and none have regretted it. It's a huge improvement over stock and that's why mine will get tuned as soon as I get it back home on Friday.

I already have the LMS tune, that's what I was running the last 3 years. I just bought Docs @Doc BDX tuner so I could try the Unleashed tune this time.

Did you really think that I didn't take my damper off my 2019? ?‍♂

Mid-Size

After I installed the Eibach rears I felt ashamed having transported my family for so long on the FX4's

I was able to compress them between my own two hands.... positive now how they got the code name... Failure Times Four ?

I'm curious as to what @P. A. Schilke has to say about this especially since he was a big help in the Off-road side of Ford
I'm pretty sure its beating a dead horse from him, if you search the many fx4 shock threads, he's said his piece
Hi Max....yep...horse is verified dead...Not going to repeat here as I have said it enough.

best,
Phil

Replaced my FX4 struts and shocks this past Thursday with Bilstein 5100s. I couldn’t believe how easy they were to compress. The rears also showed signs of oil leaking. Absolute junk and Ford should be ashamed they advertise the shocks as “performance”.
Well, they also advertise their 10R80 dog turd as a transmission, so...

The best thing I ever did was change out my Fx4 shocks on my 2019. It was a night and day difference going to the Eibach. They were so bad I couldn't even give them away for free on here. lol
Where did you buy the Eibach shocks??
