Back in 1976, I worked (in the Parts Dept) for a VW dealer in IL. VW was one of the manufacturers who started putting disc brakes on all their cars, and of couse, this was before shims. Owners would come in to the service dept complaining of the squeal. I recall one tech suggesting the owner...
I had those on my 2019 Ranger XLT that I bought in June 2020 with 12K miles. I found them to be noisy, but really didn't have any serious issues with them. At 39K I was seeing more wear than I thought should be showing and swapped the for Bridgestone Duellers, with which I have been very...
I'm not paranoid about being tracked, I just don't like my insurance rates going up for no good reason. I understand the Ranger has a bunch of expensive parts, but after five years of production (and not paying any claims from me) the actuaries should have the rates figured out.
This evening's news reported that auto manufacturers are capturing owner/driver data and communicating it to the manufacturers, who then sell the data to insurance companies, DMV and law enforcement and resulting in higher insurance premiums. My own insurance rates (Progressive) went up, and I...
I saw the previous threads on the hose rotting and performed a preemptive strike on it a few months ago. Used 3/8" fuel hose in the strongest strength and two new hose clamps. The actual replacement is molded hose, but if you cut it a skosh longer, it's all good.
That thread is how I learned to check the part referenced, an EGR differential pressure sensor, part number KA1Z-5L200-A. I purchased the sensor from my local dealer and installed it myself, using the original hoses but new band clamps, in under a half hour. That solved the problem. The...
I had Hankooks as OEM and found them to be terribly noisy. I swapped them out at 39K miles with perhaps 5K more miles on the tire tread for Bridgestone Duellers and have been happy. I have almost 48K miles now.
I had it happen a couple of times, but both were when I was on low signal areas, in the mountains away from cell towers. I was gone the next time I started it.
I haven't had it since the dealer replaced the APIM.
The regular horn works great. I accidentally tripped my alarm by locking the door with the engine off, key out of the ignition and me inside, then opening the door from inside. The horn sounded, but sounded like about half the strength of the regular two-tone horn. It sounded more like a bleat.
I am happy with the stock horn(s) on my Ranger, but when I accidentally set off the security alarm, it sounds absolutely anemic. I want people in the next county to hear my truck when someone is trying to break in. Any suggestions on improving the noise level?? Enquiring minds need to know.
It took a month, but the dealer finally called to tell me that the module had come in on 10/16/23, thirty one days after the part was ordered. I took it in to have it installed the next day and it has worked fine ever since. Then.... Before I got the new module installed, I had ordered the...
The dealer had my truck for three days before calling to tell me they could not duplicate the issue. Seriously?!? As loud as it was, they couldn't find it?? The service manager drove it (I checked the mileage, there was twenty miles more on the clock when I picked it up than when I dropped it...
After two and a half days of sitting at the dealership, I got a call from the service manager telling me they couldn't duplicate the problem. They did drive it about 20 miles trying, so I can't fault that. I picked it up and it's not making the noise now. Who knows what it was. I told them...
