Hello everyone,
I am new to the site, but I have to tell you. I'm loving it. I purchased a 2019 ranger 3 years ago and I do love it.
Having been a Ford guy I coulnt be happier. I did not know if anyone out there has toed their mustang with their ranger.
I have been looking at several pull trailers, both 18 feet long. One aluminum and one steel with steel decking. I know my mustangs all weigh about 3300 pounds.
Figuring towing capacity, I was concerned about acceleration and the truck itself. It's a long drive from New Jersey to Florida
Thank you all

I bought my Ranger new (2019 XLT 4x4) and used it to tow my '69 Torino to the FCA club national meet this past summer. A bit over 1,100 miles round trip with no issues. Seemed to have plenty of power to haul it. It was mostly interstate driving with a few hundred miles of state road 2 &4 lanes. Car is about 3,600 and ~2,000 for the U-Haul trailer. 4" drop on the ball mount. I do have the factory tow package and used 93 octane when towing. I was a bit surprised first time when descending a hill in KY and it went into engine braking, it really kicks up the RPM's.

Thank you so much for the reply. It makes me feel better. I had a Navigator with a 10k towing capacity. It's reassuring that I can do that with my ranger.

Your Ranger has a 7500 lb tow capacity. Sounds like you will be looking at about 5500 lbs. That will be no problem. A few here tow close to the max. regularly. Hopefully your Ranger has the tow package. Otherwise you will need a class 4 hitch for it. Also if the trailer has electric brakes you will need a controller.

BTDT, about 5600# worth of car and trailer:

Our travel trailer is flirting with 6000# and we've pulled that almost 4000 miles now.

You'll be just fine. I'd pick the lighter of the two trailers.

Remember every time you stop for gas or any time you turn the truck off, you have to turn Towing back on, you should be fine

I've pulled an almost 6000 lb trailer about 20K miles now. Power will be no problem. Only issue is keeping track of the gas stations as it gets about 10-11 MPG when towing.

I tow a heavier travel trailer. Power will not be your problem. Going downhill will be your concern as your trailer will weigh more than the truck. The 2.3 with the turbo is great for power, but doesn't offer as much for braking. Expect to be reving near redline going down passes.

The ranger is awesome for towing! The pic with the trailer and trees, i am stuck in mud. It was clay, just slipped like ice. But real nice for towing, i do it regularly.

No, I prefer Weigh Safe hitches.
Similar.

I don't tow enough different things to justify the spend on a GenY. It's either the camper with its dedicated hitch, or everything else gets the 4" drop hitch, which is close enough for everything from a UHaul car hauler to the small utility trailer I borrow from my grandad from time to time.

Plus, I'd have nowhere to put that huge thing when I'm not using it. I refuse to leave things in the receiver when I'm not towing. I've hit my shin twice on trailer hitches walking through parking lots at night full-speed and short of getting kicked in the balls with a spike-covered boot, that is the worst pain ever.

Same, not is use, stow it. I have the 6" drop and 3 different ball sizes for my Weigh Safe, it all breaks down and fits in the storage under the right rear seat of the SCrew cab. I think I could get the 8" drop in there, but the 6" seems to be all I've needed so far. I have the 4" drop from when I bought the kit from a friend, but 4" was not enough to get the trailer level.

Was a u17. I dont know much about models or features, but, with all things soil is a big factor. Soil was medium, not rocky, not clay, more soil less sand. Worked pretty good. Especially the plow in front. For our small projects around the property, it works really well. That was my parents property. At my uncles, need more power, it is all clay. Used it for drainage ditches and level some small dirt mounds. The track do tear up the soil. Heaviest tow, at 6800 pounds. Ranger does just fine.
Sorry i was long winded there

Not at all on being long winded, I appreciate the details and especially the weight.

I'd like to dig a trench on one side of my daughter's house. It probably has a good amount of smaller rocks (like 10-30 pound size). Knowing what you could do and the soil type is very helpful!
Thank you very much! =)

Maybe next summer I rent one and then I'll be all:
