Do you guys think a Coachman Apex Nano 208 Bhs with the following specs⬇
Hitch weight 516 pounds
GVWR 600 pounds
UVW 3948 Pounds
CCC 2052 Pounds
Exterior Length 25 feet

is to much trailer for the Ranger?

My factory payload sticker is around 1440 pounds. I’ve added a sliding tonneau cover and of course the hitch work will add some weight. Too much for a family of 4 (2 adults and a 4 and 10 year old plus 60 pound labradoodle) ?

you can install it...it really is not that bad to do...
I’m out of my league. I’m going to hose something up. I’m meticulous in what I do and wish everyone had the same work ethic but this isn’t my bag. I’ve emailed literally 15-20 Ford dealerships in SC this evening. Tomorrow will tell if any reply.

try a trailer retailer.....the Ford guys will want $600+....the part is about $280.
I thought the same thing, you really cannot hose it up, there are only two wires to connect under dash, then the plugs at the rear high mount light. If you have a good wire fish tape you can actually cross under your headliner to the lamp and avoid pulling all those panels. Removing the rear light for access through the bed is the better way, you can push the connector mount free and then pull it down for access. Just match the pins by color on the instructions and make sure they are seated well...you'll hear the faint click.
It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be.

Ya those suck lol
Whether you like them or not, you'll find them on most boat trailers among other applications. Anyway, the point is that you're just wrong that max tow can't be achieved without an ebc.

So if you installed it yourself I’m assuming the dealership didn’t have to do any magic to make it work. Good to know. I guess the muffler shop guy was mistake when he said only Ford could install the OEM controller.
No, the dealership doesn’t need to be involved at all. There are a couple of threads here if you do a search for Ford OEM Redarc controller. I found them to be helpful before doing the install.

Really? I rarely see them on any trailers. Thought those were more old school.

Also my bad! I should of said 99.9% of trailers you need a ebc

Strange you keep saying that.. cause it's just false.

I've hauled loads with my 5' x 10' trailer for the past 35 years.. no brakes at all.

depends where you live and the laws. Obviously a tiny trailer like that you don’t need one. Didn’t think I needed to point out the obvious

It has 3,000 thousand lb capacity, full size 15" trailer wheels and is a tilt bed.

5 ft x 10 ft is bigger than the bed on your truck, like twice as big. You call that tiny.... well... ok.

Ya 5x10 is pretty small. I think a 5x8 is about as small as a trailer gets. Why you so angry this morning, turn that frown upside down mister!

Xlt no tow package. Cost me 150 bucks. Hitch 120, 7 pin, 30 wiring harness ford points. The Ranger can do 7500. Now for a redarc ebrake. Had this same discussion here with a tt place said i could not do more than 3500 with a 4 banger. Maybe, maybe a 6. So this vehicle very capable. Use a weight distribution hitch. I would. Its safer. The reese hith tuck a little forward of the bumper. I have not had problems with trailers. Box trailer for a harley and a 1k trailer for a mower.

After reading Fords recommendations that you all have posted and added my own personal experience with travel trailers. I had a Ford 1t diesel and a 24 ft TT. I have also had cab over campers on 1t trucks. IMHO you should not consider a Ranger as a long range tow vehicle with a large frontal area Rv. A 1/2 T or better is minimum, for safety and peace of mind.
