I've only had my '21 Tremor a week and already thinking of a tune.

My question is, with the Ford tune , once it's tunes for 93 octane (it's what I have here in south Louisiana), I have to live with that...right? Unlike the Livemois tune which appears to be switchable between 87, 93 and E30 (at least I think I'm reading that right).

I also know the tunes are not just for engine HP increase, it remaps the trans shift points. Anybody out there have experience with both? Which tune do you prefer and why?

I also have the FPT since the truck was new. I'm happy with it... not a track monster but DD is just right. If your going for max effort tune, there are better options than the FPT.

I had the Livernois tune in my '19 Ranger and really liked it a lot. It was nice to be able to flash between all the different tunes and see which one fits your driving style. I always ended up going back to the 91-93 performance tune which I felt gave you the best overall performance and made the shifts super smooth.

The FPT is a nice all around tune with no towing worries.

I opted for the Ford tune as my plan is to keep the truck for a long while so i didn't want to go with anything too aggressive. I primarily wanted to get the improved shift logic which over the past year i've been very pleased with. I always run premium in my ecoboost cars as they just like it better anyways, so i don't fret over jumping between regular and premium. If i was travelling to more remote places however that didn't have premium, i would probably get something from livernoise if i was doing it again

I have tried a few differnt tunes/tuners. I am very happy with my 93 Octane no skip shift (doesn't skip 2nd gear)tune from Unleashed. I currentlly have 97k miles on my 19 Ranger and have been tuned since around 5k. I also have a towing tune from Unleashed as well. Zero motor or transmission issues.

A tune is not normally the first thing you do to a bone stock vehicle; usually you remove restrictions on the intake and exhaust first. I plan on a high flow cat as the first bolt on.

Personally I went with Livernoise on my 2019. I had the Performance Tunes for 87-89 and 91-93(I don't think you can find 90 anywhere) a long with a Tow Tune flexible from 87-93. Personally I ran the Tow Tune as it was for Efficiency Focused vs Max Performance Focused. It was certainly fun to have and made the experience more fun. For the Ford Performance tune you will be required to run Premium regardless, but you can tow with the tune without problems.

If anything just be aware that once you flash the PCM, the Transmission will be in relearn mode and it will take up to 10,000 miles to be ready since you have a 10 Speed Automatic.

With our trucks, a tune is by far the best bang for your buck improvement you can make. Intakes, exhausts and other mods are going to have a smaller impact for $ spent.

OP, I went with Livernois. They provided a great tune. The ford performance tune is just a weaker version of the Livernois tune.

Edited: accidently said ford performance tune twice

That part makes no sense
Livernois makes the ford performance tune.

Ford performance tune is
Horsepower gain: 45 HP @ 4,500 RPM
Torque gain: 60 lb.-ft. @ 2,500 RPM

Livernois is peak vs. peak gains of over 53WHP and 101WTQ, with maximum gains of over 80WHP and 101WTQ.

Technically speaking Livernoise makes the Tuner Box for the Ranger for Ford Performance. Ford Performance Group has their own separate tune aside from Livernoise.

What you said above "The ford performance tune is just a weaker version of the ford performance tune." Makes absolutely no sense

Also the ford performance tune is listed on Livernoises CARB exemption so they at least helped develop it.
