Stock tires are 265 60 18.

Gonna install Bilstein front shocks that lift front end 2". Had intended to go with 275 65 18 but am now wondering if that's a little small.

Am considering 285 65 18's but they definitely cost more and also weigh more.

For those of you with 2" lift on front and 18" rims, what's a good tire size that isn't too big?

That's a lot of info to wade through with not many examples with 18" wheels but after a lot of reading, I think I have a safe combination

Bilstein 5100's up front set to 2-2.5" of lift
Falken AT3's in 275/65 R18 on my stock rims.
Look forward to some pics!

So in that size there are a few different AT3's for Falken. Not sure if you are going with an LT or not but one other ture to consider in the same size is the Firestone Destination XT. If comparing to the LT it os Lighter and cost less. Plenty durable and does great with wet and snow traction. I don't even have road noise from the tire. Also you can get White Letter out with the Firestone!!

Just an option to consider

When i got my Ranger the first thing i did was change out tires & wheels mainly for a different tread and better overall rating than the factory BFg's (same size as OE 255/65/17)soon thereafter i did the Bilstein adjustable 5100's @ 1.8 height adjustment, i now see the tires look to small and am going to go up a size to 265/65/17 it's a little larger( although not enough) but i don't want to lose the 17'' wheels i just purchased, your doing it correctly by raising first then fitting the tires, wish i had done it that way although i had no intention of messing with the susp until i couldn't take the rake & bouncy jouncy ride with the stock shocks.
All the best with your choice.
Rob.

My Lariat Tremor came with LT265/70-17 General Grabber ATx tires. These are just shy of 32" tall. I don't feel the need to go any taller.

You can go to 265/70-17. They are a little taller and will fit fine.

That's about the perfect size in my opinion. 275/65 R18's are also 32" tall. Seems to be just the right size to fill the wheel well with a 2" front lift while so not rubbing. They also aren't that much heavier than the stock 265/60 R18's.

I'm expecting my new tires 265/70/17 later today should have them installed later in the week or next week, curious as to what if anything you did with the spare considering it's a 16'' i think im going to get a used 17'' rim and put on one of the takeoffs 255/65/17 that way I'll have a closer match to the other 3.

What matters is the overall diameter of the tire, not the rim size. That's not enough difference in size to matter when the spare will be used temporarily anyway, just don't switch on the locker if you have one if the spare is put on the rear. The 255/70-16 spare is about the same overall diameter as the stock 255/65-17.

So there will be approx 1.55'' difference with the smaller current spare over the new sized 265/70/17's
seems like a large diff not sure if i would feel comfortable doing that (but I'm no tire sizing expert just going on instinct) that i just may use one of the 255/65/17 takeoffs and hang it under the bed, there only going to be sitting in the garage collecting dust anyway.

It'll be fine. Lots of cars come with donut spares that have a lot more difference than that. Do your thing though.

Hey thanks for that point, i forgot about those donut type tires, i actually have one of those on my other car Kia Optima and it is much smaller than the mounted 17''ers.
