What are they doing? Rebuild? Replace? New or reman?
A smarter man than I would have thought to ask that question…….I’m currently working and had to get back to my case but I did confirm that the torque converter, trans, and valve body was getting replaced but I am uncertain if it’s a reman unit or new.

Got the truck back this morning and now for a drumroll:

111413 7000 12.70 VERIFIED CUSTOMER CONCERN. RAN ELECTRONIC TRANS DIAG - GOOD. RAN OASIS - GOOD. SYMPTOM IS RELATED TO A FAULTY CDF HUB AND CLUTCH CONTAINER. INSPECTED FLUID - FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN FLUID.
NECESSARY TO REPLACE BOTH ITEMS AND PERFORM OVERHAUL ON TRANSMISSION, AS WELL AS TO CLEAN TRANSMISSION. CUSTOMER OPTED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. REMOVED, DRAINED OLD TRANS. INSTALLED NEW TRANS WITH ALL ONE TIME USE PARTS. PERFORMED NEW STRATEGY DOWNLOAD FOR NEW TRANS.

It appears to be a CDF drum failure from the reman unit!

Wow, seeing as you had it replaced after the CDF drum was updated (mid 2022) you'd think this wouldn't have been an issue now. Unless they use an older drum. I hope you finally get this fixed right this time and I'm sure you're more than frustrated by now. I know I would be and I'd most likely be sending down the road once back. Good luck.

At the moment I’m just glad to have it back. The transmission will have a 3 year unlimited mile warranty so I’ll continue to drive it as it is paid for. Besides, third times the charm right?

So they put in a new transmission ? Or another Ford reman? And was it covered by warranty ?

Somethings weird about a Ford reman unit installed in February of 2025 having a CDF drum failure. Anything built in 2024 and beyond will have both the updated CDF drum and trash can. That reman should have had both. Mysteries for sure

Sounds like they used old stock pre '22?

But according to that video in the other thread these are the best transmissions out there.

It’s a “reman” as they reuse the housing but use all new parts in the housing according to the service rep. As long as I get no more trouble from it, I’ll count my blessings and move on. I just got to work and it’s shifting beautifully but so did the other one until about two months ago.

Or some other issue, dirty fluid (don't laugh, my fluid was black as coal at 18K miles) or another issue causing low fluid pressure.

Given that I’ve read that it’s easy to under fill these things, I do wonder if that’s what happened

It is very easy to under fill and overfill them...

If you follow Ford's instructions, you'll need some way to actively monitor fluid temps, and then find a way to burn proof your hand while reaching up to remove that mini dipstick that is located perilously close to the catalytic converter.

If you add an MBS Dipstick (aka the Fitzstick), things become remarkably simpler, really as simple as checking your engine oil level. He just keeps refining the product.

Using the Fitzstick and the Scangauge to monitor transmission temperatures, I set the fluid level at the middle range of the fill window at 215F degrees (the upper boundary of the temp range). I then monitored the fluid temps and measured the fluid at 10F degree increments as it cooled. I then let the truck sit for 2 days to fully cool the transmission fluid, and started the truck to continue obtain the fluid level as cold ( Start the truck, then shift through gears at 5 second intervals from Park to Sport and back, then immediately check the fluid level.) then at 10 degree increments until I had obtained the location on the dipstick at each temp, from cold to 120F 120F, etc all the way to 220F.

Using the cold method is easiest as you don't need to know the fluid temp, simply let the truck sit on level ground overnight and check it at first start. The fluid level should be just at the tip of the dipstick, 1/8" up from the tip. It doesn't get any easier than that! I ran the test at 75F ambient, and the fluid was at 77.4F

This method has worked perfectly over 4 fluid changes. During the last change I replaced the filter and installed the PPE deep pan.

Is It safe to assume that this and the ppe plan will void the 3 year warranty on my transmission?
